Chennai: The Chennai Meteorological Centre has said that heavy rain may occur tomorrow (Sept. 30) at one or two places in 11 districts, including Salem, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, and Tiruchi.
Regarding this, a press release issued by V.R. Durai, an official of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, said: An atmospheric circulation prevails over North Tamil Nadu and adjoining South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
In addition, a trough of low pressure extends from South Telangana to the Gulf of Mannar, passing through the atmospheric circulation seen over Rayalaseema and North Tamil Nadu and adjoining South Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
As a result, heavy rain with thunder and lightning may occur today (Tuesday) in one or two places in 6 districts: Erode, Dindigul, Madurai, Namakkal, Kallakurichi, and Tiruvannamalai.
Moderate rain may occur in a few places in the Western Ghats districts and in 11 districts: Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Karur, Trichy, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Villupuram, and Cuddalore, as well as in Puducherry.
Tomorrow (Sept. 30), heavy rain may occur in one or two places in 11 districts: Nilgiris, Erode, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, and Trichy, as well as in Karaikal areas.
Moderate rain may occur at a few places in the other Western Ghats districts and in 13 districts, namely Tirupattur, Vellore, Ranipet, Trichy, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Madurai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, and Thoothukudi, as well as in Puducherry. Light rain may occur at isolated places in the rest of Tamil Nadu.
On Oct. 1, heavy rain may occur at one or two places in the Nilgiris and Coimbatore districts. Light to moderate rain may occur at a few places in the rest of Tamil Nadu, and in Puducherry and Karaikal.
On Oct. 2, light to moderate rain may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu. From Oct. 3 to Oct. 5, light to moderate rain may occur at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts and southern Tamil Nadu.
In Chennai and suburban areas, the sky will remain partly cloudy today and tomorrow (Sept. 30). There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some parts of the city in the evening or at night.
Temperature will rise:
In some places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, temperatures may rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius above normal.
Rainfall:
It has been reported that in the past 24 hours, the highest rainfall in Tamil Nadu was recorded in Vedasandur, Dindigul district, at 9 cm.
