New Delhi: Allowing Starlink to operate in India would pose a threat to the country’s security, said Nishikant Dubey, chairman of a parliamentary committee and BJP MP.
In a post by Elon Musk, the head of SpaceX, he said, “They say Starlink cannot compete with Jio’s low prices; on the other hand, they fear that Starlink will give tough competition. Open competition will benefit Indian citizens.
"The price will be determined by market conditions, and we will adjust accordingly. Dear Prime Minister Ambani, I apologize for not realizing that you are the real boss of India," he wrote mockingly.
Reacting to Musk's posts, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey said: There is no compromise on security rules. India is a healthy, sovereign democracy. It will not change its security policy by yielding to social media pressure.
In the studies we conducted as the chair of the parliamentary committee, the risks faced by the country’s security agencies, the Home Ministry, and the defense ministries due to foreign satellite companies like Starlink have been identified. In countries like the United States, Elon Musk should first provide affordable internet access to the poor. He cannot control India through social media. He said this.
