Vadivelu is from Alampundi Naduppattu Road near Gingee. His 7-year-old daughter was studying in the 2nd standard at a government primary school in that area. On the 11th, the girl’s birthday was celebrated, and that night she slept at home with her parents. The next day, on the 12th, early in the morning, the girl suddenly went missing. Shocked by this, the parents and relatives searched in various places but could not find the girl. Based on the complaint filed at the police station, the police registered a case and formed 10 special teams comprising inspectors, sub-inspectors, and police personnel under the leadership of 3 DSPs for the search operation. More than 200 police officers are engaged in the search for the girl.

However, even after 10 days since the girl went missing, it is said that no solid information or major clue about her has been found so far. In this regard, in a statement issued by AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, “The Tamil Nadu Police, which is struggling without a clue even after ten days since the girl went missing near Gingee — the Tamil Nadu Police, once praised on par with Scotland Yard for handling crimes, is it now being used only as an instrument to suppress those who point out the government’s shortcomings?
The news that the 7-year-old girl who went missing on the 11th in the Alampoondu Nadupattu area near Gingee in Villupuram district has still not been found by the police even after ten days is deeply distressing. Despite forming 10 special teams based on the complaint filed by the parents regarding the girl’s disappearance and searching from various angles, the police are struggling without even the slightest clue, raising questions about the public’s trust in the police force.

Criticism has arisen that the Tamil Nadu police are gradually becoming dysfunctional under the TVK government, which has been using the police force, which is meant to ensure public safety and maintain law and order, as an instrument of coercion through abuse of power, and using it only to file unnecessary cases and imprison opposition members and those who point out the government’s shortcomings.
Moreover, with incidents related to the abduction and disappearance of girls occurring one after another in Tamil Nadu—such as the arrest of a north Indian youth who tried to kidnap a 7-year-old girl near Villupuram, and the case of an 8-year-old girl who went missing and was later found near Sriperumbudur—it has now become necessary for the police to investigate whether any gangs are operating behind these incidents. Therefore, as the Tamil Nadu police are struggling in the investigation into the girl’s disappearance, and as complaints regarding successive cases of girls being abducted have been raised, I urge the TVK government and Chief Minister Mr. Joseph Vijay to hand over these investigations to the CBCID or the CBI,” he said.
