In the POCSO case related to Gem Veeramani, Mr. T.R. Balu, the party treasurer and parliamentary party leader, has submitted a complaint to the Special Investigation Team, urging that Chief Minister Vijay, who has made allegations against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, and the three ministers Aadhav Arjuna and C.T.R. Nirmalkumar be “summoned” for questioning and that the evidence in their possession be obtained.
In that complaint petition, “On September 25, Chief Minister Vijay publicly accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of protecting Gem Veeramani. On the same day, Minister Aadhav Arjuna accused the party not only of protecting Gem Veeramani, but also of improperly closing the case against him.
Following this, on September 26, Law Minister C.T.R. Nirmalkumar accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam of receiving Rs. 500 crore from him in order to protect Gem Veeramani.
There are three possible ways to view the allegations these three have made in public. First, the allegations they have made are false. They have been made to spread slander against our organization and its leaders. Second, these three possess highly important information related to this case. But under the POCSO Act, they did not provide it to the investigating officer. Third, the investigation details contained in the investigating officer’s “case diary” are being obtained unofficially; they are being circulated in public.
The allegations made by the Chief Minister of the state and two ministers are directly related to the Special Investigation Team’s inquiry. Therefore, it is essential to immediately obtain from them the evidence, documents, and information underlying these allegations.
Do they have evidence? If so, why have they not handed it over to the investigating officers so far? Have confidential documents related to the investigation come into their possession without authorization? Have the information in them been made public? These questions also need answers.
In this case involving children as victims, the evidence must be collected immediately, without allowing it to be destroyed or concealed. Only then will the public have confidence in the investigation.
If the allegations were deliberately made false, if information that should have been disclosed by law was concealed, or if investigation secrets were disclosed without authorization, action should be taken against the concerned persons under the POCSO Act and the applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
DMK’s firm position is that no one involved in this crime should escape. At the same time, anyone who makes baseless allegations, regardless of how high a position they hold, should also be subjected to investigation.
Therefore, it has been emphasized in that petition that the Chief Minister and the three, including two ministers, should be 'summoned' and questioned."
