Chennai: The first rocket will be launched into space in March or April 2027 from the rocket launch site being newly set up at Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district, ISRO Chairman Narayanan said.
Regarding this, ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan told reporters at Chennai airport yesterday: The NVS-03 satellite launched by the GSLV-F18 rocket was first successfully placed into an elliptical orbit with an altitude of about 38,000 km.
After that, with the help of the propulsion system in it, we raised the satellite by another 5,500 km. Subsequently, operations are under way to move the satellite to the planned orbit.
India currently has 56 satellites of its own. However, we need thousands of satellites to meet all the country’s needs, study various kinds of information, and continuously monitor them.
Unmanned spacecraft test
The ‘Gaganyaan’ project is progressing very well. So far, about 8,000 tests have been conducted for this project.
Before sending humans to space, unmanned spacecraft will be sent and tested.
The initial launch preparations for this are underway. Following the unmanned spacecraft tests, steps will be taken to send humans into space.
Similarly, work is also being carried out on the Chandrayaan-4 and Chandrayaan-5 missions. In particular, Chandrayaan-4 is planned to be implemented in 2028.
Work is under way to take research on the moon to the next stage through these projects. So far, about 37 terabytes of data have been obtained through scientific studies related to space and the sun.
In Kulasekarapattinam in Thoothukudi district, work on setting up a new rocket launch pad is progressing rapidly. The first rocket will be launched into space from this launch pad in March or April 2027. Work for this is under way in earnest. He said this.
