Panaji: Famous Hindi actor Nana Patekar died in Goa yesterday due to a heart attack. The President, Prime Minister Modi, and film celebrities have expressed their condolences.
Nana Patekar, who was living at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, suffered severe chest pain early yesterday morning. When the medical team, informed about this, rushed there, he was found unconscious.
He was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. However, doctors said that he died at 5:20 a.m. Nana Patekar’s death has caused sorrow in the Bollywood film industry.
Meanwhile, Nana Patekar’s body was taken to his farmhouse in Pune, Maharashtra. There, his family members, political leaders, film personalities, fans, and others paid their last respects in person. In a condolence message issued by President Droupadi Murmu, she said, “I was deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar. His demise is a great loss to the Indian film industry. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and fans.”
In the condolence message issued by Prime Minister Modi, he said, “Nana Patekar’s contribution to the Hindi and Marathi film industries is immense. His passing has created a huge void. I express my deepest condolences to his family, friends, and countless fans. Om Shanti.”
Similarly, many political and film personalities, including Congress senior leader Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, DMK MP Kanimozhi, and actors Rajinikanth, Anupam Kher, and Chiranjeevi, have expressed condolences on the passing of Nana Patekar.

Nana Patekar, who initially acted in stage plays, later played small roles in Marathi films. He was introduced to Hindi cinema through the film ‘Gaman’ and has acted in numerous films. Director Bharathiraja brought him to Tamil with the film ‘Bommalattam’ (2008). This film was made in Hindi and Tamil. He also acted in Rajinikanth’s ‘Kaala’ (2018). He received the National Award for Best Actor for the film ‘Krantiveer’. In 2013, the Central Government honored him with the Padma Shri award.
