The Tamil Nadu government has dissolved the high-level committee set up during the previous DMK regime under retired judge Kurian Joseph to study the relationship between the central and state governments and the limits of law.
The DMK has expressed its condemnation of this. In a statement released in this regard, "The petty-mindedness of the TVK government, which sacrifices state rights out of hatred toward the DMK, is strongly condemnable.
By dissolving the high-level committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Kurian Joseph to examine Centre-State relations, Chief Minister Vijay has committed a great betrayal of state rights.

The foolish TVK government has descended into petty politics, lacking both the ability to create anything and the maturity to preserve what others have created!
The members of this committee set up under the Dravidian model government are experts with vast experience and deep knowledge in the subject under study. They are people who earned a reputation for impeccable integrity during their careers.
The first part of the report submitted to the government and released by them has received praise across India. Many leaders have praised it as an excellent effort made at the right time. In particular, letters written by former Karnataka Chief Minister Mr. Siddaramaiah and others praising this report to the then Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin should be read by even the foolish T.V.K. government.
Since no matter what is tried, there is nothing to criticize or accuse in the integrity of the committee members appointed by the party government or in the quality of their report, they have dissolved the committee citing a very trivial reason.
The T.V.K. government has given the flimsy reason that the committee headed by Mr. Kurian Joseph is not a body established through law (statutory body) and that it overlaps with the functions of the already existing Tamil Nadu Law Commission.
However, The Hindu newspaper has pointed out that the law commission they are referring to is not a statutory body either, and has also praised the Dravidian model government's effort, saying that the report submitted by Mr. Kurian Joseph is highly commendable.
Moreover, it is noteworthy that the earlier commissions set up to examine Centre-State relations, the Sarkaria Commission and the Punchhi Commission, were also not statutory bodies.
Driven by jealousy, unable to tolerate the praise received by the first part of the Kurian Joseph committee report, and fearing that if the next part is released the debate on state rights will intensify across India, the T.V.K. government has dissolved the committee.

“History will not forget or forgive the petty politics of the TVK government, which has shut down the grand initiative undertaken by the DMK government for state rights!” it has been stated.
In the post released by Opposition Leader Udhayanidhi, “I strongly condemn this sham government for dissolving the committee set up under our Dravidian model government to study the relations between the Union and State governments.
By dissolving this committee, which was headed by former Justice Kurian Joseph and included experts in administration, law, and economics, this Dummy CM has betrayed Tamil Nadu.
“Those who have canceled this committee citing the functions of the Tamil Nadu Law Commission—what other plan do they have to protect the rights of the state?” he asked the TVK government.
