"The negligence of the TVK government, which has failed to take proper action to prevent the dengue fever that is spreading rapidly in Tamil Nadu and affecting as many as 16,000 people, is the height of administrative mismanagement," said Naam Tamilar Katchi coordinator Seeman, expressing condemnation.
In a statement he released regarding this, he said, "The fact that hundreds of people are being affected every day by dengue fever, which is spreading rapidly in all districts of Tamil Nadu, is deeply worrying and painful. In Tamil Nadu, 244 people were affected by dengue fever in a single day yesterday alone, of whom 87 were affected in Chennai alone.
With dengue fever rapidly increasing, 16,577 people have been affected so far in Tamil Nadu, and the TVK government’s negligence in failing to take any effective preventive measures to stop it is strongly condemnable.
With dengue cases rapidly increasing in 10 districts including Chennai, Coimbatore, Erode, Tiruppur, Salem, and Krishnagiri, the tragic news that 9 people have so far died of dengue fever is deeply distressing. I extend my condolences to the families of the deceased and share in their grief.
As the rainy season is about to begin, seasonal changes are causing infectious diseases such as colds and fever to spread rapidly among everyone, from adults to children. In particular, dengue fever, which can spread through mosquitoes, is spreading rapidly in the capital Chennai and across Tamil Nadu, leaving people deeply frightened.
As up to 300 people in Tamil Nadu are being affected by dengue fever every day, fear and panic about dengue have spread among the public, and the deaths that are occurring are making the fear even greater. The people of Tamil Nadu are struggling, unable to protect themselves from dengue fever.
As dengue fever patients begin to crowd government and private hospitals, what is the Tamil Nadu Health Department doing instead of intensifying preventive measures? The Tamil Nadu Health Department’s negligent approach, acting with extreme sluggishness and playing with people’s lives, is the height of administrative mismanagement.
To control the dengue fever spreading in Tamil Nadu and prevent the deaths caused by it, I request that the Health Department of the Tamil Nadu government wake up at least now, form a special team of doctors, and immediately issue information about dengue fever, precautionary measures, and safety guidelines to create awareness among the public.
Furthermore, through mobile medical camps, dengue prevention measures should be intensified from Tamil Nadu’s cities to its villages, and to protect people from dengue, traditional Tamil medicines that boost immunity, including Nilavembu Kashayam and Kabasura Kudineer, should be provided to the public on a war footing at all government hospitals and in places where large crowds gather, said the Naam Tamilar Katchi representative, adding that we strongly urge this.
