New Delhi: ACP Vivek Bhagat, against whom women journalists in Delhi filed sexual harassment complaints, has been promoted to the post of Deputy Commissioner. However, ACP Bhagat has written to the Police Commissioner requesting that the promotion order be put on hold because of the sexual case against him.
The protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has been continuing at Jantar Mantar in Delhi since October 3. Three women journalists had gone there to cover the protest. On October 4, they filed complaints alleging that they had been sexually harassed.
In particular, the complaint also mentioned the name of Vivek Bhagat, the Additional Assistant Commissioner of the Delhi Police who was on duty there. The case has now been transferred to the Delhi Crime Branch for investigation.
Meanwhile, ACP Vivek Bhagat and 12 other officers have been promoted to the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner. All of them are police officers from Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The order for this was issued by Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena.
In this regard, ACP Vivek Bhagat has written a letter to the Police Commissioner. In it, he requested that the new work assignment given to him be put on hold, as a case has been registered against him.
In his letter, ACP Vivek Bhagat stated, ‘A case has been registered against me alleging that I sexually harassed women journalists.
As a result, I am currently unable to take up the responsibility assigned to me until a full and satisfactory inquiry into this matter is completed. Therefore, I request that my promotion order be put on hold until the case against me is concluded,’ he said.
The Delhi government, which accepted Vivek Bhagat’s request made on his own initiative, has put on hold the action related to his promotion. Following this, the Delhi government has amended the order assigning additional responsibilities to its officers. The order dated October 5 will be revised and reissued only to the remaining 11 officers.
Fake video clip of the ACP

Nadeem, who posted this fake video on his YouTube channel, has been arrested in Palwal, Haryana, and is being interrogated. In this, Nadeem has admitted that he edited the footage using AI.
Nadeem studied at a madrasa in Palwal and later completed 10th grade. Since 2019, he has been running a news YouTube channel. Delhi Police is also examining his older posts.
