Tirunelveli: Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Rajmohan said that a decision on building a new assembly building will be taken only after hearing the public’s opinion.
Speaking to reporters in Tirunelveli yesterday, he said: There should be healthy competition over who does good for the people. Former Chief Minister Stalin has spoken politically about “electric cuts” and “knife cuts.”
We compete only in serving the people. In the Legislative Assembly, all opposition members are given the opportunity to speak. O. Panneerselvam from the DMK spoke for about an hour. AIADMK General Secretary Palaniswami spoke for more than 40 minutes. Sowmya Anbumani from the PMK also spoke for a long time. Everyone is given an opportunity.
When the Chief Minister Vijay was speaking in the Legislative Assembly, DMK members kept interrupting him. Everyone saw the Chief Minister’s sharp response to that. Public interest in learning about the proceedings of the Assembly has increased. The DMK did not give coalition parties a share in the Cabinet. But it has given TVK a share in both governance and power.
The assembly is overcrowded. So a new assembly building is indeed needed. However, we will seek the people’s opinion on this and make a decision. The final decision will be taken by the Chief Minister. Marxist Communist state secretary Shanmugam is older in age. We accept the criticisms he makes constructively. Less talk, more action.
