Krishnagiri: “AIADMK spokesperson Kaliyammal has alleged at a public meeting held in Krishnagiri to mark Anna’s birthday that crimes against women have increased many times over compared to the DMK regime.
The AIADMK held a public meeting last night at the Krishnagiri roundabout to celebrate the birth anniversary of scholar Anna. East district secretary Ashokkumar presided over the event. Bargur MLA Govindarasan was present in the chair. Shortly after the meeting began, it started raining.
However, the party spokesperson Kaliammal, who participated as the special invitee at this meeting, said: “Within a short period after the new government was formed, law and order in the state has completely deteriorated. More than 300 murders and over 10 custodial deaths have occurred. Compared with the previous DMK government, crimes against women have now increased many times over.
Instead of discussing the people’s issues in the legislative assembly, some people spoke in inappropriate words and turned the house into a mockery. At a time when the water level in the Mettur dam has not even reached 100 feet, it is being opened in haste for publicity politics. For this, 6 crores have been wasted just to install an iron gate.
In many parts of Tamil Nadu, people are struggling without drinking water and are also facing power cuts of up to 8 hours every day. The electricity bills of ordinary people have been multiplied, rising from Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 6,000, placing a heavy burden on them. There may be a thousand criticisms against DMK leader and former Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. But it is unacceptable to mockingly speak about his arrest under MISA and the torture he endured. Those with political understanding will not accept this.
The TVK government says there is no money in the treasury to provide assistance to the elderly and persons with disabilities. But its eagerness to build a new Secretariat and Legislative Assembly building in Pattinapakkam at a cost of Rs. 1,200 crore for its own convenience is an anti-people move. When it cost only Rs. 900 crore to build the Parliament building, Rs. 1,200 crore is being spent on the Assembly building for the convenience of Chief Minister Vijay.
“Because Vijay’s astrologer said that he could become Prime Minister only if he sat in a new building, efforts are being made to evict the people of the seven fishing hamlets, and work is underway. On the Tamil soil preserved by the blood of martyrs, speaking in the Assembly ‘Manmatha nandri’ instead of ‘heartfelt thanks,’ and then justifying it on stages without even realizing it was a mistake, is disgraceful. The ruling leaders have no understanding of the Cauvery river water issue, the Katchatheevu problem, or the sufferings of farmers and coastal fishermen,” said Kaliyammal.
