Chennai: PMK leader Anbumani has said that a conspiracy is being hatched to destroy the Pallikaranai marshland with a plan worth Rs. 50,000 crore, and that Chief Minister Vijay should pay special attention and stop it.
Speaking to reporters at the PMK office in Panaiyur in this regard, he said: Various companies are planning and trying to encroach upon and destroy the Pallikaranai marshland. Officials are supporting them.
Conspiracies are taking place in a way that provides false information to the High Court and misleads the court itself. If Vijay, the leader, is not directly involved in this matter, then the huge allegation of a Rs. 50,000 crore scam will be made against him.
Our demand is that what constitutes wetland should be properly defined. In connection with defining this, 200 kinds of maps were given to a senior official, and to protect the lands of private construction companies, that official rejected them. This is a huge fraud.
The Chief Minister, who stopped a huge project like Parandur, why did he not think that if the Pallikaranai marshland is destroyed, Chennai will be affected? It is also not true that private construction companies say that one lakh people living around the Pallikaranai marshland will not get pattas. Chief Minister Vijay should pay special attention to this.
Corruption and conspiracies must be stopped. Likewise, during the previous regime, a loan of Rs. 21.6 crore was taken from the World Bank and a road and footpath were laid in the Pallikaranai marshland, 10 feet high and 15 feet wide.
If the public is not allowed access, then why is there a sidewalk there? If flood drainage is blocked through this, private construction companies may be able to build in that area.
This was a planned conspiracy carried out for that purpose. The officials who approved this plan must be immediately disqualified. If action is not taken, PMK will lead various forms of protests. He said this.
