New Delhi: The CJP has called for a protest in Delhi today (Oct. 10) demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. In this situation, the Delhi Police has denied permission for the protest. As a result, a crackdown and arrests are being carried out.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police are conducting intensive vehicle checks at various key road junctions connecting Jantar Mantar and central Delhi. For this purpose, barricades have been set up, and motorists passing through are being allowed only after being questioned about “the reason for their travel.”
In such a situation, it has been reported that police are allowing government employees to travel in their respective areas after showing their identity cards. In addition, ordinary people coming from the south and southeast have been affected by the police’s strict restrictions. As a result, central Delhi has come to a standstill.
Along with this, police have also been deployed in Delhi’s border areas, major railway stations, and the airport. Information from the ground says this arrangement has been made to prevent protesters trying to leave these areas.
Police arresting protesters
Police officers are stopping protesters seen at Jantar Mantar in Delhi and the surrounding areas, and are also arresting them. Since a large number of women are expected to participate in this protest, the ‘Pink Women’s Police Force’ has also been deployed there.
Dhruv Rathee arrested
As it is believed that YouTuber Dhruv Rathee may participate in the CJP protest, police have arrested him in Gurugram. There is also no information on where the police have taken him. CJP has condemned this.
Moreover, the central government is using its military force to protect a single individual. Opposition parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party, have criticized this, saying that Delhi has been brought to a standstill.
CJP Jantar Mantar Protest 2.0
An indefinite protest is set to begin in Delhi today on behalf of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
To protest the NEET question paper leak, a massive demonstration was held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar in June and July under the CJP banner. As a result, Dharmendra Pradhan resigned from the post of Union Education Minister. In this situation, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should resign over the SIR issue. Otherwise, an indefinite protest will begin in Delhi from October 10, CJP announced.
Following this, extensive security arrangements have been made in Delhi. As many as 15,000 police personnel from the Delhi Police and 23,000 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed. In total, 38,000 personnel are engaged in security duties in Delhi. Thirteen express trains operating to Delhi from various parts of the country have been cancelled.
The Eastern Railway administration has also canceled some express trains. Buses arriving in Delhi from other states are being closely monitored. Investigations are being conducted into those staying in hotels and lodges in Delhi and the suburbs. Intensive checks are being carried out at the borders of neighboring states adjoining Delhi. It was announced that 57 metro stations in Delhi will be completely closed today.
Marriage halls and grounds have been kept ready to detain CJP volunteers participating in the protest. Cameras have been fitted on the uniforms of police personnel engaged in front-line security duty. 10,000 office-bearers of the CJP organization have been detained.
