The Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case after the wife of a senior Indian Army officer serving in Jammu and Kashmir shared important information related to national security with agents of foreign intelligence agencies, including China.
The woman, who hails from Telangana, currently lives in an area under the jurisdiction of the Gandhi Nagar police station in Jammu. Several people, posing as academicians from the education sectors of various countries, including China, had contacted and spoken with this woman.

In the beginning, she was asked to write articles related to the environment and geopolitics. Later, they gradually had her write articles on sensitive topics related to the country’s security and military strategies, and it has come to light in the preliminary investigation by intelligence agencies that they then began an attempt to collect military secrets.
The initial investigation has revealed that she fell into this “trap” without realizing that the people she was speaking with were neither professors nor researchers in the education sector. Based on reliable intelligence inputs, the probe suspects that the woman may have secretly collected sensitive documents, photographs, and electronic data related to the country’s security and passed them on to foreign agents.
However, since a thorough investigation into this incident is under way, the police have not yet publicly disclosed the exact details of the documents shared or the identities of the foreign agents contacted. Intelligence officials, who have kept confidential the details of the initial checks and the items seized from her, are continuing to investigate how the woman came into contact with the foreign agents.
Furthermore, in this connection, a case has been registered at the Gandhi Nagar police station in Jammu. This case has been filed under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, relating to the collection or transmission of information in a manner that poses a threat to the security of the nation, and under Sections 152 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
