New Delhi: Delhi Police have registered a case against Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka, and others for allegedly entering the All India Radio station office premises without permission during the INDIA alliance protest demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
In the controversy over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, opposition MPs marched from Parliament toward the Election Commission headquarters, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Police stopped those who were shouting slogans accusing the authorities of “vote theft” near the NITI Aayog office. With heavy barricades in place, Rahul Gandhi climbed onto the barricade with the national flag.
Unable to move forward, Rahul, Priyanka, and Deepender Hooda entered the All India Radio station premises at noon and refused to leave. Rahul said the purpose was to meet the three election commissioners. At the end of the protest, the police arrested Rahul, Priyanka, and K.C. Venugopal, among others.
Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, Trinamool Congress MPs Abhishek Banerjee, Derek O'Brien, and others were also arrested. Police said around 250 people, including 50 MPs, were placed under preventive detention. Meanwhile, Delhi Police have registered a case against Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka, and others on a complaint filed by employees of All India Radio, alleging that they entered the office premises without permission.
