Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge has said that there has been no peace in Manipur for the past three years and that the BJP government has failed.
Regarding this, on his X page,
"Because of the BJP's incompetence, Manipur is bleeding again!
The brutal killing of four innocent people in the recent incidents of violence in Manipur is highly condemnable. My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.
Since May 2023, more than 300 lives have been lost. At the same time, 24,530 people have been forced to stay in relief camps. Women, children, and vulnerable families continue to bear the burden of this tragedy.
BJP’s political machinations—imposing President’s Rule, replacing the Chief Minister, and re-establishing a BJP government—have brought no peace.
Since the violence began, Prime Minister Modi, who has not set foot in Manipur for nearly 29 months, has utterly failed to keep his promise in Parliament.
In Manipur, the BJP has failed to ensure law and order, protect constitutional rights, and guarantee national security.
Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah must answer three questions....
What happened to the peace committee set up by Amit Shah in June 2023? What concrete steps have been taken to restore peace in this tense border state, protect citizens, and address the ongoing security challenges?
What action has been taken on the recommendations of the committee headed by Justice Geeta Mittal, appointed by the Supreme Court? Even though the Supreme Court has pointed out that 31 unnatural deaths occurred in relief camps, why are thousands of people still displaced? What have you done to ensure the safety, dignity, and rehabilitation of women, children, and displaced families?
After more than three years, over 300 deaths, President’s Rule, and a change of Chief Minister, who will take responsibility for this massive administrative failure? How many more innocent lives must be lost before the Prime Minister and the Home Minister take action?
Manipur deserves justice, dignity, constitutional rights, and peace.
As a border state, its security and stability cannot be held hostage for the BJP’s political gain," he posted.
