A protest was held today near the Anna statue in Puducherry on behalf of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, demanding that the SIR measures be immediately revoked and that Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resign.
Chief Secretary Arimathamilan presided over the event. General Secretary and MP Ravikumar delivered the protest address. Many party members participated and raised slogans.
Speaking to reporters later, MP Ravikumar said, “Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar announced the S.I.R. exercise without the approval of the two Election Commissioners and made unlawful changes, and they have opposed all of this.
All of this has now come to be seen as illegal actions today. A constitutional crisis has arisen. A meeting of India alliance parties will be held tomorrow in Delhi to plan the next course of action in this regard. Our leader and I will be participating in it.
Suffrage should be made one of the fundamental rights. Right now, it is only one of the constitutional legal rights. The deletion of the names of 130 million voters is precisely because suffrage is not one of the fundamental rights.
Whether S.I.R. is behind the defeats of Stalin, Arvind Kejriwal, and Mamata Banerjee or not, we firmly believe that S.I.R. is the reason the governments in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Kerala, which were formed after S.I.R., were brought down.
Taveka minister Rajmohan has said that asking only the Election Commissioner to resign would amount to diverting the issue. The cockroach Janata Party has also announced a protest. Perhaps Rajmohan may have been referring to that.

As far as the TVK government is concerned, whenever opposition parties or the public oppose the announcements they make, they withdraw them. They do not see that as a matter of prestige. In the decision to build the Secretariat, they will not take a decision that is against the people.
