Today in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay inaugurated Periyar Arivulagam.
This library was brought in during the DMK regime. However, DMK leader Stalin and Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin had posted on their X pages that TVK is now sticking its own sticker on it.
Responding to these posts, Minister for Public Works and Sports Development Aadhav Arjuna wrote on his X page, “Plans are born out of the needs of the people.
A project itself... or the steps taken to implement it, is not the thought or labor of a single individual.

For the welfare of the people...
During the 2016-2021 period, several projects that were brought in under the AIADMK-led government and were nearly completed were later inaugurated by Mr. M.K. Stalin, who became the Chief Minister of the DMK-led government that came afterward.
Some projects were also inaugurated by Udhayanidhi, who was then the Deputy Chief Minister.
It has been customary for one government to continue the work started by another and then inaugurate it. That is only right too. The reason is that projects and their benefits are meant “for the welfare of the people...” alone.
Without beating the drum...
On that basis, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government, which has emerged as the new hope of the people of Tamil Nadu, is continuing as they are those initiatives brought in by previous governments that are for the public good.
Not just for the people of Coimbatore... the ‘Periyar Knowledge World’ will benefit not only the people of Tamil Nadu as a whole, but also students, researchers, and scholars for a long time to come.
With the goodwill that everyone, including the people of Coimbatore, should use it and benefit from it, without giving room to narrow-mindedness and without any self-promotion, ‘Periyar Arivulagam’ has been inaugurated today.
Periyar Arivulagam and the jealous grumblings of DMK leader Mr. M.K. Stalin.... Plans are born out of the needs of the people. A scheme, or the action taken to implement it, is not the thought and labor of a single individual. Especially in government administration, a government in power at the time introduces schemes and brings them into practice using the people’s tax money to address the people’s needs. Even if there is a change in government in between, what fault can there be if the next government continues and implements that scheme? Only if the newly elected government stops a scheme or construction project merely because it was brought in by the previous government can it be criticized. Who can fault a government that, considering only the welfare of the people, continues even the schemes brought in by the previous government without malice? What fault can be found in that? What moral right does anyone have to do so? During the 2016–2021 period, many projects that were introduced under the AIADMK-led government and were nearly completed were inaugurated by Mr. M.K. Stalin, who was then the Chief Minister of the DMK-led government; some projects were also inaugurated by Udhayanidhi, who was then the Deputy Chief Minister. Other DMK ministers also inaugurated them. As if they had conceived and implemented them themselves, they also spent crores of rupees of government money—people’s money—on publicity. There are countless examples, not just one or two. In particular, the Athikadavu–Avinashi drinking water project, which had long been the dream of the people of the Kongu region, was laid with its foundation stone in 2019 under the previous AIADMK government. 80 percent of the work had been completed. When the government changed while 20 percent of the work remained unfinished due to the coronavirus issue, the completed work was inaugurated in 2024 by Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin in 2022. For that, he spent crores on publicity. Similarly, the government medical colleges established in the 11 cities of Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Dindigul, Namakkal, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Tiruvallur, Krishnagiri, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, and Kallakurichi were initiated with foundation stones laid and work begun in 2020 during the previous AIADMK government. With 90 percent of the work completed, Mr. M.K. Stalin, who was Chief Minister under the DMK government in 2022, inaugurated all 11 medical colleges via video conference. At that time, M.K. Stalin advertised himself with the slogan, “Tamil Nadu excels in education.” The work on modern infrastructure facilities at Coimbatore Medical College and the JICA (Japan International Corporation Agency) multi-specialty block building, the foundation stone laying ceremony for the new educational block worth 80 crore rupees to increase the MBBS seats at that college from 150 to 250, and the hostel and library buildings had all begun during the previous AIADMK government itself. After completing the remaining work, then Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated them in March 2024 and claimed them as achievements of his government. The same story applies to the Trichy flyover, the Ukkadam–Athupalam flyover, and the Ganapathy flyovers, all of which were planned and work begun under the AIADMK government. Their inauguration ceremonies were all conducted by Mr. M.K. Stalin under the DMK government. Likewise, the foundation was laid for the Ooty Government Medical College Hospital and special treatment units for tribal people during the AIADMK government itself. That was what then Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin hurriedly inaugurated in January 2022. Furthermore, on 6 April 2025, Mr. M.K. Stalin inaugurated the new 700-bed multi-specialty hospital complex with modern facilities, including a special ward for tribal people, which had been started under the AIADMK government. It has always been normal for a government to continue the work started by another government and inaugurate it. That is also right. Because schemes and their benefits are only “for the welfare of the people...” On that basis, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government, which has become the new hope of the people of Tamil Nadu, continues the people-welfare schemes brought in by previous governments as they are; improves and implements the flawed schemes; and continues the schemes that are left unfinished. Schemes such as Amma Unavagam, introduced under the AIADMK government, and the breakfast scheme, introduced under the DMK government, are being implemented by the TVK government led by the Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister brother Mr. C. Joseph Vijay on the principle that “people’s welfare is paramount.” These are schemes started for the people... with the people’s tax money. On that basis, the Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister brother Mr. C. Joseph Vijay has inaugurated the ‘Periyar Arivulagam’ library established in Gandhipuram, Coimbatore. Not only for the people of Coimbatore... but for the entire people of Tamil Nadu, for students, researchers, and academicians, ‘Periyar Arivulagam’ will remain useful beyond time. With the goodwill that everyone, including the people of Coimbatore, should use and benefit from it, without giving room to narrow-mindedness and without any fanfare, ‘Periyar Arivulagam’ has been inaugurated today. There is no need for the Honorable Tamil Nadu Chief Minister brother Mr. C. Joseph Vijay to seek praise or glory by boasting or putting himself forward. His fame and glory are already established across all the countries where Tamils live around the world! But former Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin, as if lacking even a basic understanding of how governments elected by the people function in a democratic country, is issuing “one statement in the morning... another in the evening” out of malice about the schemes implemented by the government led by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, as though he himself conceived, designed, and built them; he is exposing his helplessness and writhing in jealousy. If people had truly felt that you brought in all these schemes yourselves, they would have re-elected you... It was because you announced schemes only in name, and people were disgusted by the corruption you committed in their creation and by the empty publicity announcements made during election time, that the people of Kolathur made you lose. The people of Tamil Nadu defeated most of your party’s candidates and sent them home. Even after that, without realizing the truth, you still boast today, saying “my scheme... my scheme...,” and continue to seethe with jealousy on social media; people will never trust you again at any time in the future. அழுக்காறு உடையார்க்கு அதுசாலும் ஒன்னார் வழுக்காயும் கேடீன் பது The meaning of the Thirukkural verse by Thiruvalluvar is: “There is no need for any other enemy to destroy a jealous person. Their own jealousy will destroy them.” Likewise, when will you realize that your own jealousy will destroy you, as you are now boiling over with envy? The government led by Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will frame schemes for the people, advance people-friendly initiatives, and remain forever in the hearts of the people of Tamil Nadu; it will continue to march forward victoriously in the political arena of Tamil Nadu!

A Morning, Evening Statement
As if lacking even a basic understanding of how governments elected by the people function in a democratic country,
former Chief Minister Mr. M.K. Stalin, regarding the projects being implemented by the government led by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, is acting as though he himself thought them up... as though they were designed and
implemented solely by him, and is expressing his frustration by issuing statements out of spite—“a statement in the morning... a statement in the evening”—and is writhing in jealousy.
If the people had felt that you yourself brought in so many schemes, they would have elected you again...
They made you lose...
After announcing schemes only in name, and because of the corruption you committed in their creation, and because the people of Kolathur were fed up with announcements made for empty publicity during election time, they made you lose.
When will you realize that the envy now boiling over inside you will destroy you?
“A government led by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, by formulating schemes for the people and carrying out people-friendly initiatives, will remain forever in the hearts of the people of Tamil Nadu; it will continue to march on to victory in the political arena of Tamil Nadu!” he posted.
