Nithyananda, who hails from Tiruvannamalai, has various ashrams in India and abroad. Accordingly, Nithyananda’s ashram is located in an area called Bidadi on the Bengaluru–Mysuru expressway in Karnataka state.
Some female disciples there filed complaints with the police alleging that Nithyananda had sexually harassed them. Following that, in 2010, the Karnataka police registered a case against Nithyananda under sections including sexual assault, breach of trust, betrayal, cheating, and intimidation.
Similarly, complaints were filed with the police by parents alleging that children were being illegally abducted and made to work at his ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Following that, in 2019, the Gujarat Police registered a case under the Child Protection Act and arrested the administrators of that ashram.
Because he repeatedly failed to appear for the warrants in these cases, the Indian government declared Nithyananda a wanted criminal. The following year, Nithyananda, who announced through a video that he had created a separate country called Kailasa, also said that anyone could apply for citizenship of that country.
Nithyananda, who created a separate country, has been making various attempts to return to his own country, India. But since he has been declared a wanted criminal, those efforts have been failing.
In this situation, Nithyananda’s disciples, who met Puducherry Chief Minister Rangasamy last month, said, ‘Restoration work is underway at the Nithyananda Meditation Center in Puducherry, and it has been decided to hold the consecration ceremony.
They requested, ‘You should provide security for Nithyananda, who is coming to take part in it.’ They also presented a book with Nithyananda’s photograph.
After that, Chief Minister Rangasamy reportedly told them, “Okay, we can see about it when he comes.” It is in this context that a video has surfaced showing Puducherry Home Minister Namassivayam and the MLA from the Embalam constituency taking part in the Navaratri puja held at Nithyananda’s meditation center in Embalam, Puducherry.

In that video, Nithyananda’s disciples welcome Minister Namassivayam and MLA Mohandass with full ceremonial honors.
After that, when Nithyananda appears in the video and begins speaking to them, Home Minister Namachivayam and MLA Mohandass respectfully fold their hands and bow to Nithyananda.
Continuing to speak, Nithyananda says, ``I respectfully welcome the Honorable Home Minister of Puducherry, Namachivayam, who has come to Kailasa Puducherry, as well as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Embalam constituency, Mohandas, and everyone else. I am deeply grateful and delighted that you have come to Kailasa Puducherry. I welcome you with joy. I am very happy that you have come.''
