Reports have emerged that the U.S. military is seriously considering resuming military strikes against Iran.
Tensions between the United States and Iran continue over the Strait of Hormuz. Through mediation efforts by Pakistan and Qatar, a ceasefire agreement and a memorandum of understanding were signed between the two sides. However, due to violations of the agreement, the United States and Iran have continued to carry out retaliatory attacks from time to time. It is in this context that the United States is engaged in discussions about launching fresh attacks on Iran.

During this attack, CNN reported that the possibilities included using one of the largest non-nuclear bombs in the U.S. military’s arsenal. The report also said that the powerful GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast, known as the “mother of all bombs,” was being considered for use against Iran. This aerial bomb is capable of destroying targets over a wide area.
This weapon, which has not yet been used inside Iran, was first used in Afghanistan during the Trump administration in 2017, which is noteworthy. Regarding this news, a U.S. Defense Department official said that the American military always keeps ready a range of operational plans necessary to carry out the directives of the country’s president and defense secretary and to succeed in any battlefield situation.

With the midterm elections due to be held in the United States on November 3, U.S. President Donald Trump said last week that he would not order a military attack on Iran before then. However, tensions continue to rise in the Middle East region due to the sinking of a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz and a series of attacks on Saudi Arabia carried out by the Iran-backed Houthi group.
Amid rising fuel prices and an escalating economic crisis in the United States, the White House has been pushed into a position where it must show significant progress on the Middle East issue ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
Meanwhile, due to fears of a U.S. attack, Iran has intensified security arrangements around its key energy hubs and nuclear facilities, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.

By combining military strength, defensive strategies, negotiations, and regional influence, we will compel the United States to yield to our demands, said Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
Iran has continued to insist that the naval blockade and economic sanctions imposed by the United States must be fully lifted, and that U.S. forces must withdraw from the Middle East region. The Iranian side has stated that its goal is not to engage in an endless war, and that its primary objective is to prevent enemies from achieving their aims through military attacks.
