Chennai: In a press release issued by the Chennai Water Board, it said: Water supply pipelines have been laid in the newly added zones under the Chennai Corporation—Manali, Madhavaram, Valasaravakkam, Alandur, Perungudi, and Sholinganallur.
Underground sewer infrastructure has also been established. To obtain a new water and sewer connection, applications must be submitted only on the Chennai Water Board website (https://wsc.chennaimetrowater.in/#/nc/login). Details of the fees to be paid will be provided online. The applicant must pay the fee only through the online mode.
When applying, a copy of the Chennai Corporation property tax assessment, the CMDA or corporation-issued planning permission, building permit and plan, a copy of the completion certificate for the construction work, and if the infrastructure development charge has already been paid, proof or a copy of the receipt for it must be attached.
For buildings that have not been assessed for tax by the corporation, a pre-tax of Rs. 3,000 must be paid for each equivalent residential unit. A rainwater harvesting undertaking or declaration form must also be submitted.
For independent houses up to 46.47 sq. m. (500 sq. ft.), only Rs. 100 each must be paid as water charges and sewerage charges. Up to 100 square meters, Rs. 5,000 each must be paid; from 101 to 200 square meters, Rs. 7,500 each must be paid. Charges for road cutting, pipe laying, and installing water meters will be collected as per the applicable rules and regulations.
For apartment residences up to 200 square meters, Rs. 7,500 each must be paid as water and sewerage charges. For commercial buildings such as non-residential shopping complexes, a charge of Rs. 7,500/- will be collected for every 100 square meters.
For buildings including hotels, lodging houses, and educational institutions, a fee of Rs. 7,500 will be charged for every 50 square meters. For hospitals with inpatient facilities, a fee of Rs. 7,500 will be charged for every 25 square meters.
The water supply and sewerage connection fee, as well as the road cut restoration fee, for buildings up to 1,800 square feet from the ground floor to the first floor can be paid in a maximum of 10 half-yearly installments.
