Chennai: Dr. J. Venkatesh, who is serving as an Associate Professor at the Coimbatore campus of Anna University, had filed a case in the Chennai High Court challenging his suspension and the charge memo issued to him.
This case came up for hearing before Justice Mummaneni Sudheer Kumar. At that time, senior advocate Asanmuhammad Jinnah, appearing for the petitioner, said, “The petitioner was issued an appointment order as Associate Professor only after his work experience certificates were verified by the Anna University administration in 2008.
Even after Coimbatore Anna University was affiliated with Chennai, the petitioner’s service records were verified at various points in time.
In connection with the irregularities at Anna University, and in the context of civil and criminal proceedings having been initiated against the university dean, Dr. M. Saravanan Kumar, only certain specific documents have now been sent for verification out of a vindictive motive, and on that basis the petitioner has been issued a charge memo and suspended.
He argued that the university’s action was entirely arbitrary.” The Anna University administration objected to this.
After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Mummaneni Sudheer Kumar has ordered an interim stay on the disciplinary proceedings related to the petitioner’s suspension and the charge memo.
