Chennai: “Is Union Home Minister Amit Shah ready to explain to the nation since when these ‘3 crore infiltrators’ he mentions have been living in India? Is this 3 crore infiltration your Himalayan administrative failure, or is it an outright false story fabricated out of fear of an impending election defeat?” asked Tamil Nadu Congress president Manickam Tagore.
In a statement issued on this, he said, “The false propaganda being spread by Union Home Minister Amit Shah that ‘3 crore infiltrators’ have been removed from the voter list has been exposed. Nearly 10 crore voters were subjected to intensive scrutiny, and according to official data provided by the Chief Electoral Officers of various states, the number of suspected foreigners identified was only 1,600.
By blatantly concealing this official truth from the Election Commission, Amit Shah’s outrageous slander that 3 crore people are infiltrators is a direct attack on Indian democracy.
Is the Home Minister prepared to explain to the nation since when these “3 crore infiltrators” mentioned by Amit Shah have been living in India, and in which elections they have been voting? If they had voted in elections held before the SIR process, I raise the fundamental question of whether the results of the 2014, 2019, and 2024 general elections, and the Modi-led Union governments formed through those elections, are lawful.
Since 2014, the BJP has been in power at the Centre; since 2019, Amit Shah, as Home Minister, and the ruling BJP-led Union government must bear full responsibility for the country’s border security and internal security. Have you been sitting on the throne of power for more than ten years, merely watching the country’s borders and electoral systems as if it were a spectacle?
Is this claim of 3 crore infiltrators your Himalayan administrative failure, or an outright false story fabricated out of fear of an impending election defeat?
In fact, in the official replies obtained under the Right to Information Act, the Chief Electoral Officers of the states examined—Karnataka, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Kerala, Goa, and Mizoram—have confirmed that only 1,600 people are “suspected foreigners.”
The BJP leadership has been thrown off balance by the sea of hundreds of thousands of people who gathered at the INDIA alliance rally held on November 1. Unable to figure out what to say in response to this massive popular upsurge for social justice and democracy, Amit Shah is hurling such poisonous lies solely to divert people’s attention.
Instead of trying to distract people with empty rhetoric, Home Minister Amit Shah should answer these legitimate questions raised by the opposition parties and the public,” he said.
