New Delhi: Delhi Police, as a precautionary measure, arrested more than 150 people, including Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke and All India Students' Association (AISA) leader Neha Bora, who had tried to participate in the 'hoist the national flag' protest in defiance of the ban in Delhi on Friday. Meanwhile, Neha Bora, the leader of the All India Students' Association (AISA), was released early on Saturday morning. At the same time, Delhi Police said that Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Deepke will be produced before the Special Executive Magistrate court.
Organizations including the CJP, AISA, and opposition parties have been staging continuous protests in Delhi for the past two weeks, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alleging irregularities in the voter intensive revision (SIR) process.
On the 10th, protests led by members of the CJP movement led to the suspension of train and metro services in central Delhi as a precautionary measure. This affected the normal lives of the public.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar recently ordered that Jantar Mantar be removed from the list of designated protest areas. Despite that, BJP functionaries Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who trespassed into the Jantar area and tried to hoist the national flag, were arrested and remanded to judicial custody in Tihar Jail.
Meanwhile, the BJP founder called on his supporters to take part in a national flag-hoisting protest on Friday in the Connaught Place area, about 1 km from Jantar Mantar.
In this situation, Abhijeet Deepke, who left from his home in the Jhandewalan area toward Connaught Place on Friday afternoon, and Neha Bora, who had gone to join the protest at Mandi House, were stopped by the police and, as a precautionary measure, arrested and taken into custody.
Meanwhile, Neha Bora, who had been kept in preventive detention under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act, was released early on Saturday after the formalities for it were completed. At the same time, Delhi Police sources say that since action has been taken to arrest Abhijeet Deepke under Sections 126 and 170 of the BNSS, he is expected to be produced before the Special Executive Magistrate’s court on Saturday afternoon.
All India Students’ Association alleges
As a precautionary measure, the police stopped and arrested Neha Bora and took her to various locations in Delhi for more than five hours, and while her supporters kept asking the Delhi police until midnight where they were holding Neha Bora, they finally said that she had been taken to the R.K. Puram police station.
Following this, when his lawyers went to the R.K. Puram police station at midnight to meet him, they were denied permission to see him. The police also did not provide any information about when he would be released, and they also refused to provide the necessary medicines to Neha Bora, who had been suffering from ill health for the past few days, the All India Students’ Association has alleged.
What can I say?
ANI had posted the video of her coming out of custody on its X page. In that video, five people can be seen accompanying her.
Then, when asked by reporters, “What should I say?” Neha Bora said and moved away from there.
Additional Security
About 150 police personnel have been deployed for security duty to maintain law and order and ensure smooth traffic flow.
The Central Park area in Connaught Place has also been brought under the control of security forces. Rapid action force personnel have been deployed there, and additional security personnel have also been assigned to security duty in that area.
