AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has said that AIADMK will also defeat the test of the so-called temporary victory league, “TVK.”
In the by-elections held in Madurantakam and Dharapuram, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam registered a huge victory. Sathiyabama and Maragatham Kumaravel, who resigned from AIADMK and contested on behalf of TVK, won.
In this situation, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has issued a statement regarding the by-election victory.
In that statement, “First of all, I express my heartfelt thanks to all the voters who voted for the AIADMK candidates in the recently concluded by-election to the Legislative Assembly. In the general election to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly held five months ago, no party was able to secure the majority of seats needed to form a government.
In this situation, the people are well aware that the current by-election is the result of the horse-trading carried out with AIADMK Legislative Assembly members, with the intention of turning the TVK minority government, formed with the support of a few parties, into a majority government and keeping the TVK government in power.
In 2026, some of the alliance parties that were with us during the general election were not with us in this by-election. But the ruling party, on the other hand, formed an alliance with several parties and entered the electoral arena. In this by-election, the ruling T.V.K. deployed all its ministers, along with money power, official power, and manpower. In addition, those who betrayed the party and stabbed us in the back also stood against us.
Realizing that defeat in this by-election was certain, the T.V.K. offered voters various tempting promises and unfulfillable assurances. It misused the powers of government and abused authority, while also fabricating false cases against the Dharapuram constituency AIADMK candidate and party workers, illegally detaining the district unit secretary himself, intimidating several AIADMK functionaries, and bringing them into the T.V.K., employing various tactics to secure victory by underhanded means.
Chief Minister Vijay of the coalition government, who boasted, “If I speak for just half an hour, I’ll get a bunch of parottas,” was forced to roam the streets and blow the whistle for this election. By flouting election rules, misusing the government machinery to campaign in both constituencies, and even riding around in a bullock cart with a criminal wanted by the police, the ruling party has won by committing a murder of democracy. This is a victory for the power of authority and for money power.
In general, by-elections tend to favor the ruling party. Even when I was Chief Minister, we won the by-elections for the Vikravandi and Nanguneri Assembly constituencies. Likewise, in this election, the ruling party has won.
For those who mocked us as a spent force and many others, this by-election has shown the fear of death. The TVK may think it has entered the fortress of the AIADMK. But this is only a temporary victory.
No one should dream that the AIADMK can be destroyed with this temporary victory. Because the 'AIADMK' built and protected by M.G.R. and Amma is an iron fortress.
'Evil may engulf the life of righteousness; in the end, righteousness alone will prevail' is the Lord's judgment. In the reign of reels, people have been mesmerized by reels and have voted for the ruling party. Even though it is known that this election victory does not make it possible for the AIADMK to form a government, we have received good votes in both constituencies.
The challenges M.G.R. faced when he created this movement were many. The trials Jayalalithaa faced were countless. The problems I encountered when I became Chief Minister were numerous. Even now, like a gang that kidnaps children, the temporary victory association called TVK is staying in power by buying off our party’s legislative assembly members. AIADMK will overcome this challenge too.
I express my heartfelt gratitude to the friendly parties that supported the AIADMK candidates to ensure their victory, including the BJP state president and office bearers; the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and office bearers; the New Justice Party president and office bearers; the Indian Democratic Party president and office bearers; the Perunthalaivar Makkal Katchi president and office bearers; the Tamil State Muslim League president and office bearers; and the office bearers and cadres of various parties, movements, and associations who hold deep affection for the party.
In particular, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the headquarters office bearers, district secretaries, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly, former ministers, former Members of Parliament and former Members of the Legislative Assembly, state-level office bearers of the party’s affiliated organizations, district-level party and affiliated organization office bearers, union, town, municipality, area party and affiliated organization secretaries and office bearers, branch, ward, and circle party secretaries, and all office bearers and workers serving at various levels in the party, who worked tirelessly day and night in election activities with unwavering loyalty to the AIADMK and with the noble aim of ensuring the victory of the party’s candidates.
“Jayalalithaa’s AIADMK is a great banyan tree; a crop of a thousand years; a noble movement that will continue to work for Tamils for many more generations,” he vowed, and added that he firmly assures that the ‘AIADMK’ will engage with even greater enthusiasm in public service for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu and the development of Tamil Nadu.
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has stated that the AIADMK will overcome the challenge posed by the ‘TVK’—the ‘temporary victory party’.
