AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami has appealed to voters that a fitting response should be given through the by-elections in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies so that no one will henceforth entertain thoughts of betrayal.
In a statement issued by Edappadi Palaniswami urging people to vote for the AIADMK in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram by-elections, he said, "In the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly general election, the TVK, by resorting to various tricks and manipulations, despite not having enough numbers to form a government, is running a minority government with the support of other parties. Since the day the TVK assumed office, people have been watching it stage various reels and movie scenes in different forms every day."
On behalf of the AIADMK, horse-trading was carried out through underhanded means with those who contested and won in the Legislative Assembly general election; before the ink on the voting finger had even dried, a few traitors made a mockery of democracy and resigned their Legislative Assembly membership. Following this, by-elections are now being held in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram constituencies.
Those who committed a massive betrayal against the AIADMK and the people who voted for it are now contesting as candidates on behalf of TVK. People who cannot tolerate these traitors, who shamelessly ask them to vote for them again, have been expressing strong opposition across the entire constituency, and we have all been seeing it clearly on social media and in the media.
The people are well aware that TVK members, out of fear of defeat, have been making false promises to voters and engaging in improper practices to win the votes of the electorate. The only undeniable truth is that the people will teach a fitting lesson to these two candidates contesting on behalf of TVK, who have betrayed the party’s victory.
With the malicious intent of turning a minority government into a majority government, people are ready to teach a proper lesson for the covert, underhanded actions carried out through shortcuts.
In order to deliver a stinging rebuke to the traitors who have become notorious for betrayal, and who are once again contesting on behalf of TVK after having staged a betrayal of loyalty, I earnestly and affectionately request all of you esteemed voters to cast your votes for the AIADMK candidates Kanitha Sampath, contesting in the Madurantakam constituency, and Bhanumathi, contesting in the Dharapuram constituency, in the by-election to be held on Oct. 6, under the Two Leaves symbol, defeat the TVK and DMK candidates, and ensure a resounding victory for both AIADMK candidates.
I once again strongly urge all voters to create a historic event in which the voters of the Maduranthakam and Dharapuram constituencies gave an appropriate response to betrayal and abuse of power, so that no one will ever again be tempted to betray," he said.
