Chennai: The transport corporation has announced that 5,400 special buses will be operated from today in view of Vinayagar Chaturthi and the weekend holiday.
In this regard, a statement issued by the State Express Transport Corporation said: In anticipation of Vinayagar Chaturthi and the weekend holiday, special buses have been planned in addition to the buses operated daily.
Accordingly, from Koyambedu to Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur, 585 buses will operate from today, 1,255 buses tomorrow, 1,030 buses the day after tomorrow, and 650 buses on Sunday.
From Koyambedu to Tiruvannamalai, Nagai, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru, 240 buses will operate tomorrow, 240 buses the day after tomorrow, and 105 buses on Sunday.
Similarly, 200 special buses have also been planned to operate from Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode, and Coimbatore to various destinations.
From Madhavaram, from tomorrow until Sunday, 110 special buses will operate every day to Kallakurichi, Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Kumbakonam, Vellore, Hosur, and Puducherry.
In addition, to facilitate passengers returning to Chennai and Bengaluru from their hometowns on Sept. 15, 765 special buses have been ordered to operate from all locations based on demand.
During these holiday days, 8,666 passengers have booked for travel today, 32,171 passengers for tomorrow, 18,772 passengers for the day after tomorrow, 11,177 passengers for Sunday, and 23,740 passengers for Monday. It has been stated thus.
