New Delhi: Yesterday, 5 agreements were signed between India and Switzerland in 5 sectors: trade, investment, security, nuclear energy, and infrastructure.
Swiss Prime Minister Guy Parmelin arrived in India yesterday on a 3-day visit. This is his second visit to India this year. Earlier, he had come to India to participate in the Artificial Intelligence conference held in Delhi in February.
Meanwhile, President Guy Parmelin, who arrived yesterday, was accorded a grand official welcome at the airport.
After this, he went to Rajghat in Delhi, where the memorial to Mahatma Gandhi is located. There, he laid flowers and paid tribute at Gandhi’s memorial. Earlier, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Swiss President Parmelin and discussed various aspects of bilateral relations.
Following this, President Guy Parmelin met and spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House. At the end of the talks, they said that both sides had resolved to strengthen bilateral ties in areas such as trade and investment and take them to the next level.
Later, President Guy Parmelin told reporters: This visit has provided an opportunity to demonstrate the importance both countries attach to their relationship. India-Switzerland relations are based on “shared democratic values and trust, and mutual respect.” He said this.
Following this, in the presence of President Guy Parmelin, Prime Minister Modi and India and Switzerland yesterday signed 5 agreements in 5 sectors: trade, investment, security, nuclear energy, and infrastructure. These memorandums of understanding were signed to promote cooperation between the two countries in the exchange program for young professionals, transportation technologies, transport systems, and infrastructure development.
