Thiruthani: Yuvaraj, also known as Raja (46), was a resident of Periyar Nagar in Thiruthani, Tiruvallur district. He ran a petty shop in the Thiruthani area and is survived by his wife Durga and two daughters.
On the evening of the 4th, Raja was at home with his family. At that time, unidentified persons who came there on a bike wearing masks attacked Raja with a machete and killed him. Thiruthani police registered a case and investigated the matter, and arrested four people: Sushil (27) from Periyar Nagar, Thiruthani; Bhuvanesh (20) from Arakkonam; Harish (19); and a 17-year-old boy.
According to the police investigation of the arrested persons, it was found that Raja’s younger daughter had been speaking with a young man from the Thalavedu area near Tiruttani. A 17-year-old boy from the Indira Nagar area of Tiruttani had been one-sidedly in love with that girl. Therefore, about 10 days ago, that boy, along with Lawrence (31) from Periyar Nagar, Tiruttani, his younger brother Susil (27), and Susil’s wife Rosy (25), took the young man who had been speaking with Raja’s daughter aside and attacked him. Not only that, they also issued a death threat to Raja’s daughter.
Based on the complaint filed by Raja’s wife regarding the death threat issued to their daughter, Tiruttani police registered a case and arrested Lawrence on the 4th. In retaliation, at the instigation of Lawrence’s younger brother Susil, Susil’s friends Bhuvanesh and Harish murdered Raja and fled.
Police said that another friend of Susil, a 17-year-old boy, helped by providing the weapon used in the murder. When police tried to arrest Susil, who attempted to escape, he sustained an injury to his leg. Susil then received treatment at the Tiruttani Government Hospital.
