A 2-year-old child who went missing in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, on June 6 has still not been found. With no information on what happened to the child or whether the child is alive, the search for the child has been called off.
What was revealed through forensic tests on the dead dog, which was believed to have gone missing along with the child and later returned? Information about what happened to the dog has also not been released.
As a result, in a country where so many children go missing every day, the practice of abandoning the search without finding them continues in the life of a child named Duni from Kakinada.
Leaflets were distributed with the child’s photograph, details, and information about the disappearance, along with phone numbers asking anyone who knew anything about the child or had seen the child anywhere that day to share the information. But if no one had seen the child... who would provide any information?
Was that all? The police had also announced that a reward of Rs. 1 lakh would be given to anyone providing useful information to help find the child. But so far, no clue has emerged.
Where is the child?
The child went missing on June 6 in the village of Thuni, and even after more than four months, despite searches using drones and by 400 police personnel, not even the slightest clue has been found so far.
Disaster response force personnel also searched for the 2-year-old child of a couple who had been living near a palm oil farm in Kakinada district of Andhra Pradesh. They did not find the child.
Initially, fearing that some wild animal might have carried the child away, the police made dolls near the forest area and placed pieces of meat inside them. However, no wild animal came near the place where the doll was kept.
While the child was playing outside the house, it appears to have followed its father after seeing him leave for farm work. The father picked up the child, who had followed him to the farm, brought it back, and left it at the doorstep, telling his wife to look after the child before leaving.
The wife thought the child had come inside the house and would be there. But when it was found that the child had gone out after crossing the doorstep and was missing, they filed a complaint at the police station. The family’s pet dog also followed the child.
The dog that went missing with the child returned after 2 days. But the dog appeared unusual and, without eating any food, died within a day or two, shocking people even more.
The search operation was carried out and investigations began. But everything came to a halt right where it had started. Where had the child gone? That was the question. Four months had rolled by. The entire village is still in distress, with no answer yet to the question of what might have happened to the child.
