Chennai: Officials said that plans are underway to introduce 25 new types of liquor in Tasmac shops.
There are 4,000 Tasmac shops in Tamil Nadu. Indian-made foreign liquor varieties such as brandy, whisky, and vodka, as well as beer and wine, are sold here. Tasmac procures beer varieties from 7 liquor manufacturers, wine from one manufacturer, and other liquor varieties from 11 manufacturers.
In Tamil Nadu, 174 types of liquor produced in the state, 40 types of beer, and 4 types of wine are sold, along with 6 types of liquor, 5 beers, and 5 types of wine from other states. TASMAC imports 538 foreign liquor varieties and sells them in liquor shops located in shopping complexes.
New liquor varieties are introduced in TASMAC shops from time to time. In that regard, TASMAC officials held talks with liquor manufacturers regarding the introduction of new liquor varieties and have planned to introduce 25 new liquor varieties.
Regarding this, TASMAC officials said, “Negotiations were held with more than 20 companies regarding the sale of new varieties of liquor and beer in TASMAC retail outlets. From among them, 25 new liquor varieties have been selected, and the work of fixing prices is under way. After approval for this is obtained at the TASMAC board meeting, the new varieties of liquor will be brought to liquor shops for sale soon,” they said.
