Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday (Sept. 8) urged a fair investigation into the incident in which 15 people died after drinking illicit liquor in Madhya Pradesh.
So far, 15 people have died after drinking illicit liquor in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar district. Preliminary investigations have revealed that toxic methyl alcohol was mixed into the liquor.
Regarding this, Rahul Gandhi posted on his X page:
In the Sagar region, poisoned illicit liquor has claimed many lives and plunged countless families into grief. But everyone in Madhya Pradesh knows what happens next. Some people will be arrested, some officials will be suspended, and an inquiry will be ordered. Because this is not the first time.
Just a short while ago, many people died in Indore because of contaminated water. Last year, toxic cough syrup claimed the lives of countless young children.
Medicine is poisonous. Alcohol is poisonous. Water is poisonous. New laws are enacted, but they are left dormant until the next tragedy strikes.
The BJP government has been in power in Madhya Pradesh for more than 20 years. There has been no action to prevent incidents like this. After that, only nominal measures are taken. Who is responsible for all this?
The full truth behind these deaths must come out through a fair investigation. Rahul Gandhi also noted that this action should not stop with only the lower-level employees, and that the real culprits must be held accountable.
भारत की सबसे भ्रष्ट सरकार वाले राज्य मध्यप्रदेश में शासन नाम की कोई चीज़ बची ही नहीं।
