Indore: Devi Ahilya University in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, has announced that former Agniveers will be given a 100 percent fee concession to help them continue higher education and secure employment opportunities.
Regarding this, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Rakesh Singhai, said: Under the Agnipath scheme, keeping in mind the country’s current security needs, Agniveers are recruited into the armed forces on a short-term basis. Agniveers, who protect the nation, spend the golden four years of their lives in the military. Because of this, they are often unable to continue their studies.
It has been decided to offer a 100 percent tuition fee concession at our university, keeping in mind that after serving in the armed forces, they should complete higher education, secure good employment, and begin a new life.
If former Agniveers succeed in gaining admission to any one of the approximately 200 courses offered by this university, which was established by the Madhya Pradesh government in 1964, they will be granted a 100 percent tuition fee concession.
Agniveers must have completed four years of service. Those who were discharged during the service period or subjected to disciplinary action are not eligible for this educational fee concession.
No upper limit has been set for this fee concession. All eligible former Agniveers will receive this concession.
In the future, the university may also consider providing reservation in student admissions for former Agniveers. It may also create special courses for them.
Children of personnel serving in the three armed forces are already given a 50 percent concession in university tuition fees. Children of soldiers who died in battle and children of retired soldiers are given a 100 percent tuition fee concession. The Vice-Chancellor said this.
