When contesting under another symbol, one has to become a member of that party. The question is whether that is democracy. Having remained continuously in the DMK alliance for more than ten years, there was pressure to contest under that party’s symbol so that it would not become a controversy at election time. I said it was unfortunate as an expression of the anguish of the cadre.
I would never say this is wrong; I would say it a thousand times. What I said about bad luck should not be mocked by assuming that I meant we would have supported the TVK. The TVK has brought about a change. Vijay has brought about a change that Muppanar, Vaiko, and Vijayakanth could not bring, beyond politics, beyond caste and religion, beyond money politics, and that is why there is an attraction. Because of that, some party workers are going to that party; you cannot say that is wrong,” he said.
