We expect a big victory for the BJP in Maharashtra." Her statement reportedly shocked Rahul Gandhi. அவரின் இக்கருத்து ராகுல்காந்திக்கு அதிர்ச்சியை கொடுப்பதாக அமைந்துள்ளது. இதே விவாதத்தில் ராகுல் காந்தி கலந்து கொண்டு பேசுகையில், பா.ஜ.க தேர்தல் கமிஷனுக்கு உத்தரவிடுவதாகவும், தேர்தல் கமிஷனை சொந்த ஆதாயத்திற்கு பயன்படுத்துவதாகவும், இதனால் நாட்டின் ஜனநாயகம் பாதிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டு இருந்தார். தேர்தல் கமிஷனர்களை நியமிக்கும் கமிட்டியில் இருந்து சுப்ரீம் கோர்ட் தலைமை நீதிபதியை நீக்கியது குறித்தும் கேள்வி எழுப்பி இருந்தார்.
இதற்கு பதிலளித்த மத்திய அமைச்சர் அமித் ஷா, மின்னணு வாக்குப்பதிவை கொண்டு வந்தது ராஜீவ் காந்தி என்றும், அதனை இப்போது அவரது மகன் எதிர்ப்பதாகவும், மின்னணு வாக்குப்பதிவு இயந்திரம் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்பட்ட தேர்தலில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி வெற்றி பெற்றதாகவும் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
