India lost 1-2 to reigning world champions Germany in the International Hockey Federation’s Pro League hockey match.
Earlier in this competition, India had defeated Germany 3-1 in the first match, but in the return-leg game, they suffered a defeat.
The first half of the match ended without a goal, and the pace picked up in the second half after the teams switched ends. As a result, Jagraj Singh scored from a penalty corner opportunity for India in the 38th minute, giving the team the lead.
As the match continued in the same manner, in the final stages Justus Weigand scored for Germany from a penalty corner opportunity in the 56th minute, bringing the game level at 1-1. In the thrilling closing moments (60’), the team’s Jacob Brilla scored from another penalty opportunity, and Germany ultimately won 2-1.
India will face the Netherlands in its next return-leg match on Sunday (June 21).
