கலைஞர் காலத்தில் கூட்டணியில் இருந்தபோதும்கூட கட்டுப்பட்டு இருக்காமல், அதிமுக தலைவர்களோடு இயங்கியிருக்கிறேன். பெரியார் பிற்படுத்தப்பட்டோர் கட்சிகளின் தலைவராகத்தான் இருந்தார். விசிக, அம்பேத்கருடன் பெரியாரையும் இணைத்து படம் ஒட்டியதால்தான் அம்பேத்கர் இயக்கங்கள் பெரியாரை ஆதரித்தனர்.
அம்பேத்கரை சாதியவாதியாக கம்யூனிஸ்ட்டுகள் பார்த்த காலமுண்டு. அந்த காலக் கட்டத்தில் அம்பேத்கரை தோழர்கள் கடுமையால விமர்சிப்பார்கள். அம்பேத்கர் இயக்கங்களுக்கும் இடதுசாரி இயக்கங்களுக்கும் இடையே இடைவெளியை குறைத்தவன் நான்.
மதுரையை சனாதன மையமாக மாற்றப் பார்க்கிறார்கள். சாதி சங்கங்களை அணுகி சாதி உணர்வுகளைத் திட்டமிட்டு வளர்க்கிறார்கள். ஜனநாயக உணர்வைச் சொல்லிக் கொடுப்பதற்கு பதிலாக சாதி, மத உணர்வுகளைத் தூண்டுவது மிகவும் ஆபத்தான செயல், நான் தேர்தல் நேரத்தில் மட்டுமே தேர்தலைப் பற்றி பேசுவேன். சீட் எத்தனை பெறுகிறேன் என்பது என் பிரச்னையல்ல, சீட் எண்ணிக்கை மாறுவதால் நான் முதலமைச்சர் நாற்காலியில் போய் அமரப் போவதில்லை.

பெரியாரை பிராமண கடப்பாறையைக் கொண்டு இடிப்போம் என்று வெளிப்படையாக சொல்லும் நிலை வந்திருக்கிறது. வலதுசாரிகளின் ஆதிக்கத்தால் இந்த விளைவுகள் உருவாகி வருகிறது. சகோதரத்துவத்தை தகர்க்கப் பார்க்கிறார்கள். உண்மையான தமிழ் தேசியம் என்பது சனாதன எதிர்ப்பில் தான் அடங்கியிருக்கிறது. மத வழி தேசியத்தை எதிர்ப்பது தான் உண்மையான தமிழ் தேசியம்.
இந்தியா முழுமைக்கும் ஒரே மதம் தான் இருக்கவேண்டும் என்பது பாஜகவின் அரசியல். அதை எதிர்ப்பதற்கான ஆயுதமாக நாம் முன்வைக்கும் பெரியாரையே இல்லாமல் ஆக்குவோம் என சொல்வது ஆபத்தான விஷயம்” என்றார்.
