There are a total of 8 assembly constituencies: Erode East, Erode West, Gobichettipalayam, Modakurichi, Bhavani, Bhavanisagar (reserved), Anthiyur, and Perundurai. The DMK directly campaigned in the constituencies of Erode West, Bhavani, Anthiyur, Gobichettipalayam, and Perundurai. Modakurichi was allotted to MDMK, Erode East to Congress, and Bhavanisagar to the Indian Communist Party as part of the alliance. According to the election results released yesterday in Erode district, DMK and its alliance parties did not win in a single constituency. The T.V.K. won in Bhavanisagar, Gobichettipalayam, Modakurichi, Erode East, and Erode West constituencies.
In the remaining three constituencies, AIADMK has won. DMK has lost all three constituencies it held, including that of Minister Muthusamy. In Erode district, the birthplace of Periyar, DMK and its alliance parties failed to win even a single constituency out of the eight, which has deeply saddened the party members.
