In 2005, under the United Progressive Alliance government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was introduced to ensure 100 days of work per year for people living in rural areas. The central government has now introduced a new scheme with new guidelines, removing the name Mahatma Gandhi and renaming it as the "Vibrant India Employment and Livelihood Guarantee Scheme (VB-GRAMG)." Approval for this scheme was also granted at the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi on the 12th of last month. Edappadi Palaniswami has expressed concerns that under this new scheme, the central government's financial contribution will be reduced by 60%, which may increase the financial burden on the states. Opposition parties have strongly criticized the removal of Mahatma Gandhi's name, alleging it to be a planned conspiracy. While various groups have voiced their opinions against this scheme, Edappadi Palaniswami, on his X page, welcomed the central government's intention to extend this 100-day work scheme to 125 days. However, he urged the central government to continue the rural employment guarantee scheme without any change in its name.
Regarding this, Chief Minister Stalin wrote on his X page, "The opposition leader, who has issued a statement to cool down Delhi when asked to raise his voice to protect the people! இதில் இருக்கும் மகாத்மா காந்தி என்ற பெயரை நீக்கி “வளர்ந்த இந்தியா வேலைவாய்ப்பு மற்றும் வாழ்வாதாரத்துக்கான உத்தரவாதத் திட்டம் (VB–G RAM G)” எனப் புதிய வழிமுறைகளுடன் ஒரு திட்டத்தை மத்திய அரசு அறிமுகப்படுத்தியிருக்கிறது. இந்தத் திட்டத்துக்குக் கடந்த 12-ம் தேதி பிரதமர் மோடி தலைமையில் நடந்த அமைச்சரவைக் கூட்டத்தில் ஒப்புதலும் அளிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.
இந்த புதிய திட்டத்தின்படி மத்திய அரசின் நிதி பங்களிப்பு 60% குறைக்கப்படுவதால் மாநிலங்களுக்கு நிதிச்சுமை அதிகரிக்கும் அபாயம் ஏற்பட்டுள்ளது. மகாத்மா காந்தியின் பெயர் நீக்கப்பட்டத்தில் திட்டமிட்ட சதி இருப்பதாகவும் எதிர்க்கட்சிகள் கடும் விமர்சனங்களை முன்வைத்திருக்கின்றனர்.
இந்தத் திட்டத்தை எதிர்த்து பல்வேறு தரப்பினரும் கருத்து தெரிவித்திருக்கும் நிலையில், எடப்பாடி பழனிசாமி தன் எக்ஸ் பக்கத்தில், `மத்திய அரசு இந்த 100 நாள் வேலை திட்டத்தை 125 நாட்களாக உயர்த்த உத்தேசித்துள்ளதை வரவேற்கிறேன். எனினும் மகாத்மா காந்தி ஊரக வேலை வாய்ப்பு உறுதித் திட்டத்தின் பெயர் எவ்வித மாற்றமுமின்றி தொடர மத்திய அரசை வலியுறுத்துகிறேன்.” எனக் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தார்.

நாம் தட்டி எழுப்பிய பின் துயில்கலைந்து, MGNREGA திட்டத்தின் பெயர் மாற்றத்தை மட்டும் கைவிடக் கோரிப் ‘பட்டும் படாமல் தொட்டும் தொடாமல்’ தனது ஸ்டைலில் ‘அழுத்தம்’ கொடுத்திருக்கிறார் எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர் பழனிசாமி!
அத்தோடு, 100 நாள் வேலைத்திட்டம் 125 நாட்களாக உயரவுள்ளதாகவும் ஒரு பொய்யை அவிழ்த்து விட்டிருக்கிறார். 125 வேலை நாட்கள் என்பது பேப்பரில் மட்டுமே இருக்கப் போகிறது என அனைவருமே சுட்டிக்காட்டியும் அறியாத அப்பாவியா அவர்?
மக்கள் தொகைக் கட்டுப்பாட்டில் சாதனை படைத்ததற்காக, Delimitation மூலமாகத் தமிழ்நாட்டின் தொகுதிகளைக் குறைக்கப் பார்ப்பதைப் போலவே, வறுமை ஒழிப்பில் நாட்டிலேயே முதலிடத்தைப் பிடித்ததற்குத் தண்டனையாகத் தமிழ்நாட்டுக்கான வேலை நாட்களைக் குறைக்கப் போகிறார்கள் என நான் சுட்டிக்காட்டியிருந்ததை வசதியாக மறந்துவிட்டார் எதிர்க்கட்சித் தலைவர்.
ஒன்றிய அரசின் நிதியில் செயல்படுத்திய MGNREGS திட்டத்தைச் சிதைத்து, நிதிச் சுமையை மாநிலங்களின் தலையில் VBGRAMG கட்டுவதைப் பற்றியும் வாய்திறக்க அவருக்கு வலிக்கிறது போலும்.
தனது ‘Owner’ பா.ஜ.க. செய்வது சரி என்றால், துணிச்சலாக, வெளிப்படையாக VBGRAMG-யைப் பழனிசாமி அவர்களால் ஆதரிக்க முடியுமா? சவால் விடுகிறேன்…” எனக் கேள்வி எழுப்பியிருக்கிறார்.
