There was some commotion at Kolkata airport after an Indigo flight was struck by lightning.
An Airports Authority of India official said that an Indigo flight bound for Agartala, which was parked at Kolkata airport in West Bengal, was struck by lightning on Friday.
It was reported that the incident occurred during a thunderstorm, and that the airport operations control center had already issued weather warnings related to it.
However, he further said that none of the passengers were injured in this incident. As a precautionary measure, all the passengers were deplaned and later continued their journey on another flight, the official said.
According to IndiGo company information, two ground control staff members sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. However, the official said it was reported that they are currently in good health.
Since Friday morning, heavy rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds has been lashing Kolkata and the surrounding districts, causing waterlogging in many areas and traffic congestion.
