An Air India Express flight from Kannur in Kerala to Jeddah returned to Kannur airport within two hours of takeoff due to a technical fault, airport sources said.
The Air India flight departed from Kannur airport at 7:40 a.m. today with more than 180 passengers on board. However, after about two hours of travel, the pilots noticed a warning light related to the aircraft’s engine and decided to turn the plane back.
The aircraft landed safely in Kannur. All passengers are safe, sources said.
Later, in the tests conducted, it was found that there was a fault in the aircraft's fuel filter.
They also said that, before landing, the aircraft circled the airport for a while in order to reduce the amount of fuel.
