Chennai: Shankar (37), from Bharathi Nagar, Perambur, Chennai; Vijay (30), from Arisanatham village in Ariyalur district; and Sakthi (21), from Channa Nallur in Ariyalur district. All three were engaged in repairing cables for the private telecom company (Jio).
These three, who had been traveling across Tamil Nadu carrying out cable repair work, went by car yesterday to inspect a cable fault that had occurred in Erode. After completing the work and returning home at night, Sakthi was driving the car as it was coming toward Ariyalur via Perambalur.
In the early hours of today, a car traveling on the T. Kalathur branch road under the Senjeri police jurisdiction in Perambalur district suddenly lost control and crashed head-on into a truck coming from Perambalur to Karur carrying iron rods on the opposite side of the road.
In this accident, the front portion of the car was completely damaged, and all three people died on the spot with severe crush injuries. On receiving information about the accident, Senjeri police rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent them to the Perambalur Government Hospital.
Following the accident, traffic on the Thuraiyur–Perambalur highway was disrupted for a short while. Later, police removed the vehicles, and traffic returned to normal.
In the initial investigation, it was found that the accident was caused because the driver of the car, a man named Sakthi, had fallen asleep. The Chengeri police have since registered a case and are investigating the accident.

தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதும் சென்று கேபிள் பழுது நீக்கும் பணியில் ஈடுபட்டு வந்த இவர்கள், நேற்று ஈரோட்டில் ஏற்பட்ட கேபிள் பழுதை சரிபார்ப்பதற்காக மூவரும் காரில் சென்றுள்ளனர். பணிகள் முடிந்து இரவு ஊர் திரும்பியபோது பெரம்பலூர் வழியாக அரியலூரை நோக்கி வந்து கொண்டிருந்த காரை சக்தி ஓட்டியுள்ளார்.
இன்று அதிகாலை பெரம்பலூர் மாவட்டம் செஞ்சேரி காவல் எல்லைக்குட்பட்ட டி.களத்தூர் பிரிவு சாலையில் வந்து கொண்டிருந்த கார், திடீரென்று ஓட்டுநரின் கட்டுப்பாட்டை இழந்து சாலையின் எதிர் திசையில் பெரம்பலூரில் இருந்து கரூருக்கு இரும்பு கம்பிகளை ஏற்றி வந்த லாரி மீது பயங்கரமாக மோதி விபத்துக்குள்ளாது.
இந்த விபத்தில் காரின் முன்பகுதி முழுமையாக சேதமடைந்து, மூவரும் சம்பவ இடத்திலேயே உடல் நசுங்கி உயிரிழந்தனர். விபத்து குறித்து தகவலறிந்த செஞ்சேரி காவல் துறையினர் சம்பவ இடத்துக்கு விரைந்து உடல்களை மீட்டு பெரம்பலூர் அரசு மருத்துவமனைக்கு அனுப்பி வைத்தனர்.
விபத்தை தொடர்ந்து துறையூர் – பெரம்பலூர் நெடுஞ்சாலையில் சிறிது நேரம் போக்குவரத்து பாதிக்கப்பட்டது. பின்னர் போலீஸார் வாகனங்களை அப்புறப்படுத்தியதால் போக்குவரத்து இயல்பு நிலைக்குத் திரும்பியது.
முதல்கட்ட விசாரணையில் காரை ஓட்டி வந்த சக்தி என்பவர் தூங்கியதே விபத்துக்கு காரணம் என்பது தெரியவந்தது. தொடர்ந்து விபத்து குறித்து செஞ்சேரி போலீஸார் வழக்குப் பதிவு செய்து விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகின்றனர்.
