The NEET retest is likely to delay engineering counselling in Tamil Nadu.

After it was confirmed that irregularities had taken place in the NEET exam held on May 3, it was cancelled. The National Testing Agency had announced that the NEET retest would be held on June 21.

Following this, the online registration, fee payment, choice filling, seat allotment, and final confirmation for Tamil Nadu engineering admissions for 2026 are being carried out digitally.

The Directorate of Technical Education under the Higher Education Department began receiving applications on May 3 and completed the process on June 5.

Accordingly, more than 3.02 lakh students have registered. Of them, 2,45,220 have uploaded their certificates. A senior official said that certificate verification work has also begun, and as per the already released schedule, the rank list will be published on June 29.

In this situation, engineering counselling is expected to be delayed because the NEET re-exam is set to be held.

Regarding this, Higher Education Minister Viswanathan said, “A decision on postponing the engineering counseling will be taken after consulting with officials and announced within a day or two.”

இதுகுறித்து உயர்கல்வித் துறை அமைச்சர் விஸ்வநாதன் பேசுகையில், ”பொறியியல் கலந்தாய்வை ஒத்திவைப்பது தொடர்பாக அதிகாரிகளுடன் ஆலோசித்து ஓரிரு நாள்களில் முடிவு அறிவிக்கப்படும்” என்று தெரிவித்தார்.
