Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will be completely closed until further notice following attacks by American forces.
While peace talks had been taking place between the United States and Iran, Iranian forces shot down an Apache helicopter belonging to the U.S. military that was on patrol near the Strait of Hormuz last Monday (June 8).
In retaliation, after U.S. forces attacked Iranian installations, the Iranian military carried out a missile strike targeting U.S. bases located in Gulf countries including Jordan and Bahrain.
In this situation, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard has announced that the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for international fuel supplies, is being completely closed. As a result, there are fears that many countries will once again be affected by a shortage of crude oil.
Regarding this, in a post on the X platform released by the authorities of the Persian Gulf strait,
“Due to the tension caused by the attack by U.S. forces and the announcement issued by Iranian forces last night, the Strait of Hormuz is being completely closed until further notice” it said.
