How many TASMAC shops are there in Tamil Nadu? How many of them were located near schools and colleges? How many of those shops have been closed? A social activist has asked TASMAC for such information through an RTI application.
The response given by TASMAC is strange and shocking.
Social activist Kasi Mayan filed an RTI request with the TASMAC company last month on May 19, asking for some information. TASMAC has now given its response. How many TASMAC shops are there in Tamil Nadu? Kasi Mayan asked for this information. TASMAC replied, “The file is pending; information cannot be provided.”
Next, `How many shops were identified near schools, colleges, and temples?
How many of those shops were closed, and what were the numbers of those shops?
How many employees were working in those shops?
He had also asked for information such as, “Where have they been assigned alternative duty?” But the TASMAC company, oddly, has cited the same response—“The answer given to Question 1 applies here as well” and “the file is pending”—for all the questions.
In other words, they have replied in a film-comedy style: “Good question... next question...”
'The Chief Minister announces that TASMAC shops are being closed. But TASMAC refuses to provide even basic information such as how many TASMAC shops there are in Tamil Nadu and how many of them have been closed. This also raises the question of whether there is any transparency at all in TASMAC’s functioning,' says social activist Kasi Mayan, who filed an RTI.
How many TASMAC shops there are is basic information. The government should clarify what the mystery is behind refusing to disclose even that.

அவற்றுள் எத்தனை கடைகள் மூடப்பட்டன அந்த கடைகளுடைய நம்பர் என்ன?
அந்தக் கடைகளில் எத்தனை பணியாளர்கள் பணியில் இருந்தனர்?
அவர்களுக்கு எங்கே மாற்றுப்பணி வழங்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது?’ போன்ற தகவல்களையும் கேட்டிருந்தார். ஆனால், டாஸ்மாக் நிறுவனம் வினோதமாக ‘கேள்வி 1 க்கு கூறிய பதிலே இதற்கும் பொருந்தும்’ என ‘கோப்பு நிலுவையில் உள்ளது’ என்கிற பதிலையே அத்தனை கேள்விகளுக்கும் மேற்கோள் காட்டியிருக்கிறது.
அதாவது, ‘நல்ல கேள்வி…அடுத்த கேள்வி…’ என சினிமா காமெடி பாணியில் பதில் கூறியிருக்கிறார்கள்.
‘டாஸ்மாக் கடைகளை மூடுகிறோம் என முதல்வர் அறிவுப்பு வெளியிடுகிறார். ஆனால், தமிழகத்தில் எத்தனை டாஸ்மாக் கடைகள் இருக்கின்றன. அவற்றில் மூடப்பட்ட கடைகள் எத்தனை? போன்ற அடிப்படையான தகவலை கூட டாஸ்மாக் நிறுவனம் வழங்க மறுக்கிறது. இது டாஸ்மாக் நிறுவனத்தின் செயல்பாட்டில் வெளிப்படைத்தன்மையே இல்லையோ என்கிற கேள்வியையும் எழுப்புகிறது’ என்கிறார் ஆர்.டி.ஐ போட்ட சமூக ஆர்வலர் காசி மாயன்.
எத்தனை டாஸ்மாக் கடைகள் இருக்கின்றன என்பது ஒரு அடிப்படையான தகவல். அதைக் கூட வெளியில் கூற மறுப்பதன் மர்மம் என்னவென்பதை அரசு தெளிவுப்படுத்த வேண்டும்
