When the film Kaavalan starring Vijay was released in 2011, it faced various difficulties. At that time, we interviewed him for Anand Vikatan magazine. "In this country, the villains who need to be defeated are more, sir," Vijay says with a meaningful smile! The conversation turned back to the release issues of 'Kaavalan'... "So far, none of my films have faced major problems with their release. Even if there were issues, we managed them easily. But for 'Kaavalan,' they created ghostly problems. New and fresh, day by day... they caused a lot of pressure. I was terribly shocked because I didn't understand what to do to solve the problem or whom to approach. I couldn't even go to a private person and explain my situation." I understood clearly that some people were conspiring and making plans to prevent the release of 'Kaavalan' by tying a knot.
There was a lot of pressure from various groups regarding the film 'Kaavalan.' Some said, how is it fair that my films are broadcast in a sequence during festivals like Diwali and Pongal, and on government holidays, just to make money? The irony is, to ruin my face, my own face is needed! Others even threatened theater owners openly. There were so many problems surrounding the film 'Kaavalan.' To resolve all of that, we struggled hard and arranged for a Pongal release. Despite all obstacles, crowds of people came in large numbers! Earlier, during Pongal and Diwali, films of seven or eight heroes would release. Every theater would feel like a festival. But,
It hasn't been released recently... Why? The reason for that is known to all the heroes' fans. What if certain people impose a rule that only specific films can be released during festival days? Everyone celebrates Diwali and Pongal festivals. If a rule is made saying, "Only we can burst crackers and chew sugarcane," is that fair? They are afraid that my film shouldn't be released at an important time. Do you know how much effort every person puts into making a film? Despite all the insults and hardships, 'Kaavalan' has come.
"Once again, I must thank my fans," says Vijay calmly! Vijay has been facing some issues for a few months. At a meeting he attended in Erode, when he went on stage, the police suddenly denied permission. The interview turned back to that! "A few months ago, my people's movement fans in Erode, following the proper procedure, obtained police permission and organized a welfare aid event. A gathering is a gathering. Thousands of fans are eager to see me. When I was about to go on stage, the police stopped me. They said, 'The crowd is too large. If it gets out of control, we cannot guarantee your safety,' and gestured with their hands."

“’காவலன்’… தியேட்டருக்குள் சில்லுனு ஒரு ‘காதல்’ படம். வெளியேவோ, சுள்ளுனு ஒரு ‘மோதல்’ படம்!
எப்போதும் இல்லாத வகையில் இடியாப்பச் சிக்கலில் இந்த முறை சிக்கினார் விஜய். ‘காவலன்’ படத்தை பொங்கல் அன்று ரிலீஸ் செய்ய அவர் நாள் குறித்தபோது, படத்துக்குச் சம்பந்தமே இல்லாத பல பேர் அதற்கு மாறி மாறித் தடை வாங்கக் குதித்தனர். கடன் வாங்கினார்… கதை மாற்றினார்… என்ற சிக்கல்கள் எல்லாம் தாண்டிய பிறகு, தியேட்டர்கள் கிடைக்காமல்… தேதி கொடுத்தவர்களும் திடீரென மறுத்து… பெட்டி வராத சோகத்தில் ரசிகன் தீக்குளிக்கப் போய், ‘என்னைச் சுத்தி என்னதான்டா நடக்குது?’ என்று விஜய் திணறிய கடந்த இரண்டு வாரங்கள் பரபரப்பானவை. விஜய் ரசிகர்கள் வெளிப்படையாகக் கொந்தளிக்கிறார்கள். இளைய தளபதியை அரசியலுக்கு இழுக்காமல் விட மாட்டார்கள் என்பது உறுதி!
விஜய்யும் அதே மூடில்தான் இருக்கிறார். நேரில் சந்தித்தபோது நெஞ்சம் திறந்தார்…
”சரித்திரத்துல ஒரு சம்பவம் வரும். நம்முடைய மகாத்மா காந்திக்கு ஏற்பட்ட அனுபவம் அது. தென் ஆப்பிரிக்காவில் ரயிலில் பயணம் போன மோகன்தாஸ் கரம்சந்த் காந்தியை, வெள்ளைக்காரன் ஒருவன் ‘ப்ளாக் டாக்’னு கூச்சலிட்டு எட்டி உதைப்பான். சாதாரண மோகன்தாஸாக விழுந்த அவர், மகாத்மா காந்தியாக அந்த பிளாட்ஃபார்ம்லதான் பிறந்தார்!
தி.மு.க பொருளாளர் பதவியில் இருந்த புரட்சி நடிகர் எம்.ஜி.ஆரை, ஒரு கேள்வி கேட்டார்னு கோபப்பட்டுத் தூக்கி எறிஞ்சாங்க. அன்னிக்குத்தான் அவர் புரட்சித் தலைவர் ஆனார். அவர் இறக்கும் வரை அசைக்க முடியாத முதலமைச்சராக இருந்தார்.
எம்.ஜி.ஆரின் இறுதி ஊர்வல வண்டியில் இருந்து ஜெயலலிதா மேடத்தைக் கீழே தள்ளி னாங்க. பின்னாளில் சைரன் காரில் போலீஸ் புடைசூழ சி.எம் ஆனாங்க, அதே ஜெயலலிதா மேடம். ரெண்டு தடவை சி.எம்மா இருந்தாங்க. இதோ… இப்பவும் பொறி பறக்குது.
அதே மாதிரிதான்… சும்மா இருந்த கேப்டனின் கல்யாண மண்டபத்தை இடிச்சாங்க. அவர் இப்போ எவ்ளோ பெரிய ஃபோர்ஸா இருக்கார்னு எல்லோருக்கும் தெரியும்.
முதல்ல எம்.ஜிஆர், அடுத்து ஜெயலலிதா மேடம், அப்புறம் கேப்டன்… அவங்களை மாதிரியேதான் அடுத்து இப்போ எனக்கும் நடக்குதா?” என்று தமிழ்நாட்டு அரசியல் சரித்திரத்தை மென்மையான வார்த்தைகளால் உச்சரிக்கும் விஜய் முகத்தில் தெரிவது புன்னகை அல்ல… பூகம்பம்!
இதுவரை எந்தக் கேள்வி கேட்டாலும் பரீட்சை பேப்பரில், ‘இரண்டு வரிகளுக்கு மிகாமல் பதில் அளிக்கவும்’ பாணியில் பதில் அளித்து வந்த விஜய், முதன்முறையாக அரசியல் காரம் கலந்து தன்னுடைய அடிமனசில் அழுந்திக்கிடந்த உண்மைகளைப் போட்டு உடைத்தார்!
”காவலன் படத்தை ஆரம்பிக்கும்போது இப்படி எல்லாம் நடக்கும்னு நான் யோசிக்கலை. ரசிகர்கள் இந்தப் படத்தை எப்படி எடுத்துப்பாங்கங்கிற சந்தேகம் மட்டும்தான் என் மனசில் இருந்துச்சு. தொடர்ந்து ஆக்ஷன் படங்களாப் பார்த்தவங்க இதை எப்படி நினைப்பாங்கன்னு யோசிச்சேன். ஆனா, என்னுடைய எல்லா எதிர்பார்ப்பையும்தாண்டி, ‘காவலன்’ படம் சூப்பர் சக்சஸ் ஆனதுக்காக முதல் நன்றி என்னுடைய ரசிகர்களுக்குத்தான் சொல்லணும்.
அவங்களுக்கு நான் ஒரு உத்தரவாதமும் தர்றேன்… டிஷ்யூம் டிஷ்யூம் படங்களை இனிமேல் நான் தொடர்ந்து தர மாட்டேன். நல்ல கதையம்சம் இருக்கும் படங்களில் ஒரு கேரக்டராக இருப்பதும் பெருமையான விஷயம்தான். இனிமேல் வருஷத்துக்கு ரெண்டு படங்கள் பண்ணுவேன். ஒண்ணு, கலகலன்னு ‘காவலன்’ டைப். இன்னொண்ணு… ஜிவுஜிவுன்னு ‘வேலாயுதம்’ மாதிரி ஆக்ஷன். ‘வேலாயுதம்’ ரொம்ப வித்தியாசமானவன். ஒவ்வொரு காட்சியிலும் சின்னச் சின்ன டிவிஸ்ட் படம் முழுக்க தொடர்ந்துகிட்டே இருக்கும். வில்லனை ஹீரோ எதுக்கு அடிக்கிறான், எப்படி அடிக்கிறான்கிற காரணம் ரொம்பப் புதுமையா இருக்கும். இந்த நாட்டுல வீழ்த்தப்பட வேண்டிய வில்லன்கள்தானே சார் அதிகம்” என்று சிரிக்கிறார் விஜய் அர்த்தபூர்வமாக!

வேறு சிலர், தியேட்டர் அதிபர்களையும் ஓப்பனா மிரட்டி இருக்காங்க. ‘காவலன்’ படத்தைச் சுற்றி அவ்வளவு பிரச்னைகள். அது எல்லாத்தையும் தீர்க்க, கஷ்டப்பட்டுப் போராடி பொங்கல் ரிலீஸ் ஏற்பாடு செய்தோம். எல்லாத் தடைகளையும் மீறி மக்கள் கூட்டம் கூட்டமா வந்தாங்க!”
