In the Vaniyambadi constituency of Tirupattur district, V.S. Gnanavelan, the Alangayam West Union Secretary who wishes to contest on behalf of the DMK, is leading in the race for the seat. In this context, it has also caught the attention of Chief Minister Stalin that Gnanavelan has dedicated himself to the party by building the 'Thalapathi Arivalayam' at his own expense in Alangayam Madanancheri, similar to the Anna Arivalayam. On January 26, 2016, Gnanavelan completed the construction of the Thalapathi Arivalayam and personally invited the then General Secretary, Professor K. Anbalagan, to inaugurate it. Gnanavelan fondly recalls that Anbalagan, after the inauguration, requested 'Aniyan Oothappam' and bought it, sharing these as cherished memories.
At Thalapathi Arivalayam, when the opportunity arose to have a one-to-one meeting with Stalin through the program "Udanpirappae Vaa," Gnanavelan showed a photograph of Thalapathi Arivalayam and listed various welfare schemes he has been working on for the party's growth for the past ten years. Currently, he has submitted nomination forms for both the Vaniyambadi and Ambur constituencies and is waiting for the leadership's decision. For Gnanavelan, his wife Priyadarshini, who is the deputy head of the Thirupathur district panchayat union, has also submitted the candidate application at Anna Arivalayam. The Vaniyambadi constituency has been under AIADMK control for three consecutive terms.
