Due to increased tension, Section 144 prohibition order was issued, which helped prevent large-scale clashes. A tense situation prevailed in the foothills of Thiruparankundram. I issued the prohibition order solely to ensure public peace and security.
Since the situation was causing disturbance to public peace, I felt immediate administrative intervention was necessary. This prohibition order was issued as a temporary measure to resolve the issue. This action was not taken with the intention of defying court orders. I am aware that court orders bind all officials, including the district administration. There was never any intention to violate them. The action was taken solely on the basis of maintaining public order in an emergency situation. If it is considered that the Karthigai Deepam - Thiruparankundram court orders were violated, I am ready to seek unconditional pardon for that.
Therefore, this explanation should be recorded and the case should be dismissed.

திருப்பரங்குன்றம் தீப விவகாரம் தொடர்பான வழக்கு நீதிபதி ஜி.ஆர் சுவாமிநாதன் அமர்வில் விசாரணை வந்தது. மதுரை மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் பிரவீன்குமார் நீதிமன்றத்தில் ஆஜரானார். இதற்கு முன்னதாக மதுரை மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் உயர் நீதிமன்றத்தில் சத்திய பிராமண மனு (Affidavit) தாக்கல் செய்துள்ளார்.

திருப்பரங்குன்றம் முக்கியமான மதத்தலம். கார்த்திகை தீபத் திருவிழா நாளில் 15 ஆயிரத்திற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பக்தர்கள் வருகை தருவார்கள். குறுகிய வீதிகளில் கிரிவலம் நடைபெறும் சூழ்நிலையைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு போதிய பாதுகாப்பு ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்யப்பட்டன. பதற்றம் அதிகரித்ததால் 144 தடை உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டது, இதனால் பெரிய அளவிலான மோதலைத் தடுக்க உதவியது.

நீதிமன்ற உத்தரவுகள் மாவட்ட நிர்வாகம் உட்பட அனைத்து அதிகாரிகளையும் கட்டுப்படுத்தும் என்பதை அறிவேன். அவற்றை மீற வேண்டும் என்ற எண்ணம் ஒருபோதும் இல்லை.
அவசர சூழ்நிலையில் பொது ஒழுங்கை பாதுகாக்க வேண்டுமென்ற அடிப்படையில் மட்டுமே நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கப்பட்டது.
நீதிமன்றத்தால் வழங்கப்பட்ட உத்தரவுகளை மீறியதாக கருதப்பட்டால், அதற்காக நிபந்தனையற்ற மன்னிப்பு கோரத் தயார். எனவே இந்த விளக்கத்தை பதிவு செய்து வழக்கை தள்ளுபடி செய்ய வேண்டும்” என தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
