விழுப்புரம் மாவட்டத்தில் கால் நூற்றாண்டுக்கும் மேலாக மாவட்டச் செயலாளராகவும், தி.மு.க ஆட்சிக் காலங்களில் அமைச்சராகவும் முடிசூடா மன்னனாக வலம் வந்தவர் பொன்முடி.
ஆனால் 2011 சட்டமன்றத் தேர்தலில் சி.வி.சண்முகத்தால் சொந்தத் தொகுதியான விழுப்புரத்தில் வீழ்த்தப்பட்ட பிறகு, திருக்கோவிலூர் தொகுதிக்கு ஒதுங்கிக் கொண்டார். தற்போது தி.மு.க வலுவாக இருக்கும் இந்த சூழலில், தன்னுடைய மகன் கௌதம் சிகாமணியை அரியணையில் அமர வைப்பதற்கான முயற்சியில் ஈடுபட்டிருக்கிறார்.

விழுப்புரத்தில் அறிவாலயம் தொடங்கி, பேருந்து நிலையம், மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் அலுவலகம் என அனைத்தயும் கொண்டு வந்தவர் பொன்முடிதான். அதிலும் அறிவாலயத்தில் இருக்கும் மாவட்டச் செயலாளர் அறை, சென்னை அறிவாலயத்தைவிட அதிகமாக இழைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.
ஆனால் அவர் பார்த்துப் பார்த்துக் கட்டிய அந்த அறிவாலயத்தில் இன்று மூன்றாவது மனிதரைப் போல வந்து செல்லும் நிலையில் இருக்கிறார். ஆட்சியர் அலுவலக ஊழியர்கள் கூட அவரின் பேச்சைக் கேட்பதில்லை.

அதன்படி விழுப்புரம், விக்கிரவாண்டி அல்லது விழுப்புரம், திருக்கோவிலூர் தொகுதிகளின் மாவட்டச் செயலாளராக தன் மகனை அறிவிக்க வேண்டும் என்று துரைமுருகன் மூலமாக தலைமையிடம் தூது விட்டு வருகிறார் பொன்முடி. அதற்காகத்தான் தனக்கு சீட் வேண்டாம் என்று தலைமையிடம் கூறியிருக்கிறார்.” என்றனர் விரிவாக.
தற்போது செஞ்சி, மயிலம், திண்டிவனம் தொகுதிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய வடக்கு மாவட்டச் செயலாளராக கே.எஸ்.மஸ்தானும், விழுப்புரம், வானூர் தொகுதிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய மத்திய மாவட்டச் செயலாளராக டாக்டர் இரா.லட்சுமணனும், திருக்கோவிலூர், விக்கிரவாண்டி தொகுதிகளை உள்ளடக்கிய தெற்கு மாவட்டச் செயலாளராக டாக்டர் கௌதம சிகாமணியும் இருக்கின்றனர்.
