கடந்த மார்ச் 23 ஆம் தேதி இந்த கொலை வழக்கில் குற்றம் சாட்டப்பட்டுள்ள 9 காவலர்களும் குற்றவாளிகளாக கருதப்படுவதாக மதுரை மாவட்ட முதலாவது கூடுதல் நீதிமன்ற நீதிபதி முத்துகுமரன் தீர்ப்பளித்ததோடு தண்டனை விவரங்கள் மார்ச் 30 ஆம் தேதி தெரிவிக்கப்படும் என்றார். இதனிடையே 30 ஆம் தேதி தொடர்ந்து இரு தரப்பினரின் இறுதி வாதங்களையும், கேட்ட நீதிபதி 6 ஆம் தேதி தண்டனை அறிவிப்பை ஒத்தி வைத்திருந்தார்.
இன்று வழக்கின் தண்டனை விவரங்களை வாசித்த நீதிபதி முத்துகுமரன், “ எங்கு அதிகாரம் உள்ளதோ அங்கு பொறுப்பும் அதிகமுள்ளது. அதன் கொடூரம் கருதியே மதுரை அமர்வு நேரடியாக கண்காணித்துள்ளது. இல்லையெனில், அவர்கள் உடல் அடக்கம் செய்யப்படுவதற்கு முன்பு உண்மை அடக்கம் செய்யப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

குற்றத்தின் தன்மை இரவு முழுவதும் அடித்து சித்ரவதை கொலை செய்துள்ளனர். குற்றத்தின் நோக்கம், காவல்துறையினரை ஏசியதால் தாக்கியதாக காவல்துறை தரப்பில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. தன்னுடைய தந்தையை அனுமதியின்றி காவல்நிலையத்தில் வைத்துள்ளதை ஜெயராஜ் தட்டி கேட்டுள்ளார் அதற்காகவே இருவரும் அடித்து கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர்.
